The sound profile you seem to be leaning towards is not well served by the BeyerDynamic DT880. I love those phones and had both the 880's and T1's for several years, but most Beyer's tend to need power to lean towards the warm side of neutral. I'd echo other recommendations here that you try out the NAD HP50 as it is most likely to fit your wants. You can A-B both of these at HEADFONEshop on Yonge near York Mills. Tiny place inside another store, but good for testing headphones and none of our advice is a fraction as useful as testing before you buy.
