  1. I think you're describing my current nas sorage setup which is expensive but makes me feel comfortable. if one drive fails i can hot swap it with no effort and carry on.
  2. I really appreciate all your 'sound' advice. One last question, if I want to play tracks from the backup conveniently, what's the best structure to use? Do I rip everything to wmp library and copy that or copy them all as ISOs and mount them in a virtual drive as required or what?
  3. That's interesting. I had assumed optical media would last a lot longer than a hard drive. Does that mean one day we'll try to play a favourite movie on blu ray and it'll fail?
  4. not ripped yet easy play back, pref on my blu ray player i'm putting the originals into storage and won't be able to access them easily or quickly i'd still rather avoid a mechanical drive the ultimate aim is to save space in my home but still be able to play cds or tracks easily.
  5. I take our point but I've hard drives die on me so i don't trust them unless they are raided and that starts to get expensive. I was hoping I could just copy across my wmv library which would help with access.
  6. 1/40th of my current physical volume would still be good. If I did compress but only lightly, would it make much of a difference?
  7. i'm downsizing and i wan't to condense my cds into a smaller space by putting them on blu ray. what's the best way o do this? should i rip them into wmp first and copy the library to blu-ray, or maybe copy cd images to blu ray?
