  1. Disabling the SensMe Channels scanning. I am very satisfied with my HAP-Z1ES player. The only thing that's really annoying is the speed. Transferring new music takes looooong. But when finally the music is transferred my player will start analyzing the new files for the SensMe channels. When I then turn off the player it will continue scanning files for the SensMe channels, which takes ages (Sony claims 12 minutes for a 5 minute file). You can manually force the player to really shut down, but I often forget doing that and the player stays on for several days. Now I finally found a way to stop this scanning! When you disable the GraceNote Server (in the System Settings menu) the player will no longer scan new files. So when new files are added, the player will shut down immediately and not continue in scanning mode.
  2. I finally found a solution: when the Gracenote server is not used, it will also stop the Sensme scanning! and set it to OFF. In the System Settings menu, look for Select [Auto Gracenote Access] and set it to OFF. Now the Sony player will no longer scan unregistered music files for the SensMe channels. As a benefit, after having added new music, the player will immediately shutdown when powering down.
  3. I am very satisfied with my HAP-Z1ES player. The only thing that's really annoying is the speed. Transferring new music takes looooong. But when finally the music is transferred my player will start analyzing the new files for the SensMe channels. I saw that it is possible to assign channels manually, but only on a track basis. Since I do not use SenseMe at all it would be great if I could disable that feature (or manually assign all music to one category). Has anyone read or heard about disabling SenseMe?
  4. The user interface for the HAP player is wonderful and I really enjoy it. If there is one thing I miss is a function for putting albums on my favorites shelve. Of course I can make playlists, but it only stores tracks, not albums. Recently I found a way to overcome this, although it is not perfect: - first, I changed the album order to be descending on year. This makes that all the newest albums are always on top of the list. That already helps a lot - second, one can change the release year of a favorite album by adding +1000 years. This makes the album appear on top, but still retaining information on the original year. Not the most elegant solution though. A note on Spotify free: the ad’s are loud!! When I have some quiet music playing and the volume turned up then the house will start shaking at the 30 minutes interval😬
  5. Does anyone know what the bitrate is when using Spotify Connect through the HAP-Z1ES? Is it 160 or 320?
  6. I had a look at what Roon actually is. Looks interesting, but also I am not sure what the benefits would be for me. The Sony is a standalone unit which only requires a network connection for the remote control app. I am really very happy with how it works. I had a Marantz network player before and therefore know how many problems one can have with accessing the device, controlling it and browsing through music. The Sony does these jobs extremely well. There's only one thing I had to adjust to make it all work the way I like it: I have set the 'Genre' to the folder name where the music is stored. So I can easily find my way. The 'music server' function is not related to my Sony player. I already have a NAS system which holds the original music files and can act as a music server. However, I did not find good software that comes close to the experience I have with my Sony player. If there is one thing that I miss with my Sony player: a shelf to store CD's I want to play regularly. Not a playlist (because that is just a list of songs) but the 'CD'. Have not found this feature yet, except on my wife's E-reader (but it works with books only).
  7. Actually, the Z1 is one of the best audio equipment I ever had. And I had many, including high end Luxman, Sony ES (DTC-2000 and multichannel SACD), high end Marantz (2385) etc. I find the players experience elevated: it makes so much fun to search music, to play music (visual effects) and to control the player. I guess this is the device that deliveres the most fun I ever had. If there is one thing missing: I cannot assign complete CD's as favorite. I would love to have a virtual shelf to put my favorite CD's on, which I would like to play more often. I know I can make playlists but that is not the same. Does anyone know of a device that can handle CD's like I described? I know for example that my wife's Tolino E-reader has such a function for books. It has a library, but also a shelf for favorite books.
  8. You did not prepare the harddisc? Look at Settings -> System Settings -> Factory Reset -> Yes. That should prepare your disc such that it can be used.
  9. Won’t help you much, but I have Windows 10 running and also installed the recent firmware update. I have no problems at all with transferring files to the HAP device. So it can work...
  10. I am stil enjoying my HAP player, especially the way the apps work on several devices. But one feature I still miss and I truely hope that the developers will add it one day: putting albums on a shelve and be able to play an album from that shelve. This differs from the playlist option becuase it remains the original album and not a collection of tracks. When dealing with real CD’s in the past I did the same: I put my newest CD’s on a separate shelve. An alternative solution could be the ‘recently added’ playlist if it would only list the albums and not all tracks in order of adding. Hope the development team is listening here ?
  11. Hi Les, first question: if you find your song through the search option and then start that song then you will be able to play that single song. I don’t know if there is a way to add another song to play after the first song (other then creating a playlist). second question: the letters a-z on the right side of the screen are clickable. Hitting the ‘m’ for instance leads you directly to artists starting with m...
  12. Instead of playlist just start a bunch of tracks on the Sony. As long as it is playing music it won’t go in standby or sleep mode.
  13. A simple solution (which I use) is starting a playlist. It won’t shut down then. You can also set Auto Standby to Off (under System Settings).
  14. There is a file called "TransferHistory.txt" which contains all the sync data and is used by the HAP Music Transfer software to check which files should be synched. If you edit this file (it is a simple text file, you can use Notepad for it) and delete all the entries you would like to have copied again for example a Leo Kottke Disc stored on drive S:\...\..., then delete these lines: S:\Acoustic Guitar\Leo Kottke\1995 - The Best\Disc 1\05 - Bill Cheatham.flac(2015-05-07 15:13:34) | DeviceName:HAP-Z1ES HAP_Internal | Result: OK | Time:2015-05-10 12:46:18 S:\Acoustic Guitar\Leo Kottke\1995 - The Best\Disc 1\14 - Monkey Lust.flac(2015-05-07 15:13:35) | DeviceName:HAP-Z1ES HAP_Internal | Result: OK | Time:2015-05-10 12:46:21 S:\Acoustic Guitar\Leo Kottke\1995 - The Best\Disc 1\08 - Bean Time.flac(2015-05-07 15:13:34) | DeviceName:HAP-Z1ES HAP_Internal | Result: OK | Time:2015-05-10 12:46:24 S:\Acoustic Guitar\Leo Kottke\1995 - The Best\Disc 1\10 - Short Stories.flac(2015-05-07 15:13:34) | DeviceName:HAP-Z1ES HAP_Internal | Result: OK | Time:2015-05-10 12:46:28 S:\Acoustic Guitar\Leo Kottke\1995 - The Best\Disc 1\06 - The Song Of The Swamp.flac(2015-05-07 15:13:34) | DeviceName:HAP-Z1ES HAP_Internal | Result: OK | Time:2015-05-10 12:46:31 S:\Acoustic Guitar\Leo Kottke\1995 - The Best\Disc 1\09 - The Spanish Entomologist.flac(2015-05-07 15:13:34) | DeviceName:HAP-Z1ES HAP_Internal | Result: OK | Time:2015-05-10 12:46:34 ...etc Just remove those line from the sync file, then start the Transfer utility and it will start copying these tracks again, independent from whether these tracks are present on the Sony or not. This should work, because I once in a while delete some tracks from the Sony and also move them from my sync folder. If I want to have them back on my Sony I can either copy them manually or edit the sync file. Both methods work.
  15. Did you manually delete songs from the Sony? I had the same problem and solved it by editing the sync text file (Search for the albums or tracks and delete those entries).
