1. I bought my DLIII in January of 2008 along with a PS Audio Trio C-100 integrated amp. The DLIII just seems to get better with time like a fine wine.

After 1.5 years of listening to the DLIII I have become spoiled in so many ways. First of all, PC Audio is just so damn convenient. I rip all my CDs in Apple Lossless and store them on my computer. I have my entire music collection of about ~500 CDs (~5000 songs) at the tip of my fingers. I can find any piece of music in a heart beat. I can create, modify or delete play lists consisting of any combination of music files in seconds.

Secondly, the audiophile quality of the music is far beyond your typical CD player. The DLIII just does not sound digital in any way. I would not compare the sound to vinyl either. It's better than vinyl, no clicks or pops and no hiss. Nor do you have to hassle with cleaning disks. It's uncanny how uncolored the music comes through my speakers (Maggy MMGs). When the music is silent the playback is dead black quiet; and, when the music plays the sound seems to come out of the blackness with no hiss or any artifacts to muffle the detail. All the micro detail I hear in the music tells me that I am getting all the information there is within that music file. Sound staging is excellent as well. With an excellent recording you can pick out the position of each performer, front to back and left to right.

I haven't tried hi-rez 24/96 recordings yet. The DLIII does not process 24/96 through the USB port . It does do that through the Optical SPDIF. I would need to update my Dell's sound card with one that has a optical SPDIF bypass out. Another option would be to use a USB to Optical SPDIF converter. That will be my next goal.
