  1. OK, Roon has just been updated to version 935 with fixes to the Qobuz integration (among other things), plus enabled the AMD High Performance power profile, and even upped to SDM128 and that works flawlessly on the 192KHz encoded Pink Floyd and regular 44KHz Martha Argerich piano works. Seems like a win!
  2. Hi Miska, Thanks for replying. Checked the power plan, it is is Power saving. I will try Performance or Ultimate Performance and report. The Internet is actual 1Gbit both up and down--in real terms about 900Mbit. The signal goes via Cat5e to the built-in switch on the Nokia Internet router and then via Cat8 to the network daemon on a MacMini and then via a decent USB cable to Ayre in the signature. I am running currently only up-conversion to standard SDM. I'll try to play with the filters and modulator as well and also report. It definitely seems something has changed to the worse but I just can't figure out what.
  3. Is anyone experiencing any big sound stall issues with latest version of Roon + HQ Desktop Player? On Windows 11 with a massive AMD desktop 128GB RAM, Threadripper, 3090 RTX etc, with Gigabit Eithernet to Qobuz, it just stalls for no reason. I can provide more details but main point, it was all perfect and now it just stops playing for maybe 10 seconds!
  4. An interesting option. Anyone knows where would one could get longer cables than 2m--around 10m maybe?
  5. Not completely on topic but may be important for HQ Player users here. I am considering a Mikrotik router as well but here is some worrying news about security issues: "https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2022/03/trickbot-is-using-mikrotik-routers-to-ply-its-trade-now-we-know-why/".
  6. I have now purchased HQPlayer Desktop and Roon copies, and am sending music from a pretty powerful PC with Roon and HQ Player to an HQ Player supplied NAA service running on an oldish Mac Mini and then to QX-5 via USB. Oh, and Mac Mini is behind the Ethernet where I have replaced a Cat5E with a shielded Cat8 cable coming from the Router (no special switch yet). This is all working great but I have requested a quote from the UK distributor for the USB2 board and _also_ an upgrade that reduces the humming noise from the unit (apparently, there is an upgrade for that too). By the way, with Cat8, I do not have small stalling clicks in music as using a non-descript Cat5e, so make sure the cable is good, it is really very cheap compared to all the rest.
  7. And also: just found out about the HQ Player NAA _software_. Is it any good if run on Mac Mini or I absolutely need another device? Answering myself: it is working great (installed version 4.1.0).
  8. Thanks again both, no probs. I am not going to replace an expensive DAC for sure--that sounds amazing with HQ Player on the attached Mac Mini. Perhaps Sonore UltraRendu is the next stop?
  9. I see, thanks, that's a shame. Maybe Miska will know a bit more about that distinction: NAA vs Roon-ready.
  10. Back from a long break here and need to ask something elementary for y'all. I am trying to use a very powerful Windows machine, which now has Roon and HQ Player 4 Desktop. My DAC, Ayre QX-5 Twenty is on the local network. Roon can see it and can play nicely into the DAC. Roon also can see HQ Player and I can see that if the source fiel is played through Roon to HQ Player, the playback starts. However, the HQ Player settings have no knowledge of the DAC on the network. What is the process here? Many thanks!
  11. Thanks to all who responded. I have now contacted a local dealer in the UK for further information. I would imagine the USB2 board is not region-specific in any way though, so perhaps it can be sourced elsewhere.
  12. Recovered my old account warrior-kid now, so won't use the above after this.
  13. OK, yes, it can play without Client loaded. Changed SDM to other settings, tried forcing PCM, although it should be PCM anyway given that the priority is given to Source, which is 16/44, correct? Tried graying out the adaptive rate... What else can I do? No idea, I'm giving up for now, other things to do. Thanks a lot for your help!
  14. I have now tried a lot of different filters, no dithering, reducing the DAC bits to 24 from 32... There are still very clear ticks heard from the speakers. Other than that it sounds great, come on guys, there must be an answer.
