  1. Hi. Just started the cd ripping process. And I wont know if 1TB is enough for my library until I finished ripping over 2K cds. I have read a few post that replacing the z1es hdd with 2TB hdd is a non issue Sony HAP-Z1ES Hard Drive Upgrade But the one question I really like to know is what happens if the 2tb hdd track count is above the sony recommended 20,000 tracks limits? My rough estimates is that I would have around 25-30k tracks (all flac). Because no points of having a larger hdd if z1es could not handle more than 20000 tracks. Really appreciated if someone owned z1es with over 20000 tracks can answer the usability/stability of the sony HDD remote app that controls the z1es unit. thankyou in advance.
  2. Hi. Sony going to release a new firmware that will support plugin external usb cd drive to be ripped flac straight into Z1 without a PC. ƒ‰¹“W„ƒ\ƒj[AŠp“cˆè—YŽ‚É‚æ‚éuƒnƒCƒŒƒ]ƒZƒ~ƒi[vŠJÃ - i‰»‚·‚éuHAP-Z1ESv‚Ì–£—Í‚ðÐ‰î - Phile-web
  3. Hi. Can anyone here able to confirm if the Z1ES able to recognise multiple genres tagging. ie if a CD contained multiple genres tagging than this CD will be listed across multiple genres on the HAP remote app Genres tab. This might be a deal breaker for me. Thanks in advance
  4. Hi. Has anyone tagging their flac files with multiple genre tags, ie. Genre=classic+genre=soundtrack. and is hdd app able to display same album in different genres category. Thanks
  5. Thanks JM. Yes I think im going to do as advised filling in the "Genre" tag with classification or album group/series as genre. This I think would be the simplest way of navigating and browsing my cd collections for me. Even thought the word "Genres" not really is genres for what Im going to do (wish I could rename it to appropriate title heading ie "Album Groups"). Does any here include (embed) lyrics in their flac file? Does sony app display lyric while playing and how much file size space doe lyric take up? Its good to have all the answers I want so I only need to do it once and do it right. Thankyou
  6. I forgot to say that i want to define my cd series as genres for easy browsing.
  7. Hi. I previously indicated i might have close to 80 playlist. Fact is its not playlist at all, its album series ie. Compilation western instrumt music series 1.2.3 etc. Chinese compl instrmt music series 1.2.3 etc. English male voices. E Female voices. C m voices. C f voices. Artist album series (i have many singers, each singer consisted of 20 to 40 cds). Major label series etc etc just to list a few. Thats is how i want to browse my albums, cause its a pitty i love listen to chinese voices but i dont read chinese therefore i will rely heavily on cover art to find my music. Alternatively is browse by folders, question is does sony allow sub folders. Ie artist folder and a list of albums in subfolder. I just look into the app that browse by folder does not seem to show cover art. Another question on embedding image to album and individual flac. Is dbpamp allow small 200x200 pixel embed in each flac file while a large image say 1000x1000 for album cover. Thankyou
  8. Thankyou Waltoly and artie. Much clearer now about the genre. I download the sony hdd app and played with the demo only. I saw those genres in the app and throught it was fixed and defined by sony.
  9. Hi. Can anyone able confirm is the hdd audio app "genres" editable, ie change, rename, delete or ADD new genres. Thanks
  10. Thanks JM. I do value sound quality over cosmetic and marketing hype, and i believe z1es got what i wanted. I do have faith with sony software issues that it will improve over time with updates firmware. I do think the z1es are very good values after i read about music servers on this website The Well-Tempered Computer - Music servers I dont think its hard for sony to write a small program that save the music profile such as playlists to a usb sd card. Think android phone with google account, getting a new phone, no problems just sync and your new phone will work and feel just like the old one. Cheers
  11. Thankyou JM for the advice. I just work out that will have close to 80 playlists and I assume playlists can only be created by the sony HDD app. 1500CDs and 20,000 tracks, that is a lot of time spend on using HDD app editing playlists. My question is, Is there any ways of saving or backing up the playlists? Also if using Z1es to obtain metadata and cover arts from sony's own Gracenote, can these updated flac files with metadata be save and backup? Im just a bit concern incase the internal 1tb hdd die and I have do it all over again. Cheers
  12. Their second generation hap walkman nwzx2 already released so i sort of expecting sony to announce the second gen z1es soon.
  13. Thankyou for advice. I will definitely looking for more help how best to setup dbpoweramp on ripping and organising all flac files and album of flacs with metadata and cover art. I just want to do it right first time. Is it possible to setup playlists prior to transfer files to sony? Sony normally update their hifi and av gears within 2 year, it probably take me 3 to 5 month to digitise all my cds so i will wait a while and hope sony will announce a new update or a new version of the z1es. Nothing worst than hearing new version coming out when you just brought the current version. Cheers
  14. Hi Members. Its my first post here. I have got about 1500 cd that I need to digitise into Flac and MP3. I Brought a nimbie cd ripper recently and plan to use it with Dbpoweramp batch ripper. To go thru 1500cd is a big task, bigger task if not setting up and doing it properly, therefore would like to ask a few questions and advices from existing sony hap-z1es owners. 1. Should I prepare all my albums flac files with correct metatadata and cover art on the pc prior to import into z1es? 2. If an album folder have no metadata and cover art. Is z1es able to look it up via Gracenote? 3. If using hap remote app to edit metatdata, cover art, creating playlists on z1es etc. Could the internal hd be mirrored or backup with all the edited info, so to allow if the interal 1tb hd ever need replacing, than simply copy all the backup back to the new hd so everything to appears the way it was? 4. Does it require network for the hdd remote android app to operate the z1es unit, could the tablet be setup as a wifi hotspot to communicate with z1es such controlling the play list? 5. Assuming every cd is full, can 1TB store all 1500cd of flac files with all metadata and cover art of 600x600 pixels Has anyone got any news or rumours about a new version of hap-z1(2)es? Thankyou in advance
