  1. I have to change the rate manually. How does it work automatic?
  2. On that basis I will download the trial for Musichi and compare with HQPLAYER for Redbook. It's strange how different audio software players can produce better or worse sound in bit perfect playback and non oversampling. But I know it does happen because HQPLAYER sounds much better then J-River or Foobar for pure Redbook.
  3. That's good to know, I'm just playing PCM without any upsampling. Can you describe in what ways that Musichi sounds better than HQP in this way please?
  4. Do you know how SQ of Musichi compares to HQP?
  5. Very interested in this audio player. Any users can give their impression on SQ of Redbook vs HQP and J-River. Does Musichi support CUE files?

I agree, unadulterated Redbook can sound fantastic. If using the filters in HQP I definitely prefer upsampling to hi-res PCM than upsampling to DSD, there was a noticeable loss of bass weight and resolution in my system with DSD. Strangely, in pure Redbook mode, I still prefer HQP to both J-River and Foobar. The only thing I can think of is that volume control in HQP is superior? I'm going to be using an external preamp in my system soon so will go back and try J-River again then to see how it sounds. Whilst I think HQP is a great player, the user interface sucks and lack of support for .cue files drives me nuts.
  7. I was looking at Soundaware D100 pro (for example) and that can only connect to max 3TB drive by USB. So my question is are there any decent servers that can accept a 10TB drive via USB?
  8. I've just transferred my library onto a single 10TB HDD with USB connectivity. I'm now looking for a server and ideally want to retain my new library source. Are there any decent SQ servers with such connectivity? Thanks!

I would also like to know these filter and dither settings to upsample well to an R2R dac.

My DAC takes 192kHz maximum sampling rate on PCM. I feed it various rates from 44.1 to 192. Is my best option to use one setting such as NS9 and some poly sinc filter with auto rate and auto family? Or would I have to change settings depending whether input is 44 or 192?
  11. Hi, I'm looking for the best sound quality way to go from PC (preferably via ethernet rather than USB) to a single balanced AES cable with xlr connector and then into a dac. I've looked at Rednet 3/16 but they seem to be either 16/32 channels or with the 25 pin connectors. Also seen the Atterotech stuff but that seems limited to 96kHz. Lots of folk here seem to use AES/EBU so I figure I must be missing something here. Thanks for any help.
  12. I'm having to downsize my rig so unfortunately my like-new Phasure NOS1a has to go. This end-game DAC operates on worldwide voltage and comes with the optional Blaxius BNC interconnects with RCA adapters (although I've always used the balanced XLR's out) and the Clairixus USB cable, both designed by Phasure specifically for the NOS1a. This is the very latest version of the NOS1a and is only 5 months old and in like-new condition. The DAC houses 8 x legendary PCM1704UK chips, and the resulting NOS sound is simply addictive. Widely regarded by most people who have heard it as one of the finest NOS DAC's for PCM playback at any price and this can take a sampling rate of 768kHz (no DSD). This is by some distance the best DAC I've had the pleasure of owning, and I've bought and sold Lampi Big7 and MSB Analog DAC en route to the NOS1a. Retail price for the package is EUR4820 - plus 23% VAT - plus shipping into the UK. My price is £3000 and this incudes shipping anywhere, buyer takes Paypal fees.
  13. Hi, I don't know how this site works as I'm a head fi member but I made an account to try and buy your PS3, I've posted twice on the ads page and I don't know if that may have sent you a notification. But could you let me know if you're still selling as I am very desperate to rip an sacd of mine. Let me know
