  1. Chris, when and where are you moderating? I’d like to attend. ray
  2. While I might be WAAY off here, there is some information that might bring the conversation into perspective I guess a little background is required to reference Mr. Atkinson's remarks about Bob Carver. For those unaware of the body of work Carver caused a stir in the industry in the mid-1980s when he challenged two high-end audio magazines to give him any audio amplifier at any price, and he’d duplicate its sound in one of his lower cost (and usually much more powerful) designs. Two magazines accepted the challenge. We'll concern ourselves with Stereophile The objective was to make the two amplifiers sound absolutely identical, or at least similar enough in sound that none of us could tell one from the other with better than 50% (pure chance) consistency. Seriously......who ya gonna believe then there's this...sounds a bit familiar. Admittedly its dated, but there is such a familiar thread running through these 2 conversations that I gotta wonder.....since some of the players are the same From Stereophile: Dynagroove This, of course, is the old story all over again. The serious listener, who listens to music instead of using it as a pleasant background for conversation, is a nobody as far as the record industry is concerned, and does not warrant its consideration. "Issue 5...revealed most of RCA Victor's 'revolutionary' new system as nothing more than a sophisticated way of bringing higher fi to record buyers who don't care enough about hi-fi to invest in a decent playback system." Read more at https://www.stereophile.com/asweseeit/95/index.html#JBW5cqcTZ813B48s.99 For the American record manufacturers, we suggest a premium line of stereo disc releases, paralleling the releases they now put out for the mass market, but cut with full dynamic range, full frequency range, and miked so as to produce the best stereo illusion when reproduced through speakers with adequate spacing between them. We, personally, would be happy to pay a buck or so more for recordings that would justify the expenditures we have made on high-fidelity equipment, and if the premium line wouldn't play on the mass-market phonographs, the customers might start asking some of the right questions. Such as, why won't a premium disc play on my Magnificent Console? Read more at https://www.stereophile.com/asweseeit/95/index.html#JBW5cqcTZ813B48s.99 SSDifferentCentury? ray
  3. Bob Stuart has described the goal of MQA as being to reduce to "plumbing" Reduce the plumbing...by adding more plumbing? Sounds like they hired Scottish builders to create MQA I want to get closer to the music, not put another link in the chain ray Attention KMart shoppers we have a blue light special....get some before its gone
  4. TheBobFather has debunked it and Schiit won't support it. Good enough for me. Put a fork in this bitch 'cause it's done ray
  5. Anytime money is involved keep an eye on your pocket book, someone will put their hand in it. ray
  6. MQA interested parties circled the wagons to stave off the impending implosion of their investments in a failed format. Chris has (massive) influence on the outcome otherwise they wouldn't have made the attempt to talk him down. Schiit has all but written it off and Bob Carver put it in perspective as deception. Looks like another money grab to me. Buy your music again and again. Sheesh ray
  7. A little late to the party but some info from a guy who has the chops to make an informed opinion https://www.bobcarvercorp.com/resources go to white pages section and find the "truth about MQA" ray
