  1. So SuperMicro tech support has been very available and very helpful in working through some diagnostics. They have asked me to return the board for replacement.
  2. Interesting observation. It has been running Win 10 since it was built a couple of years ago... I have a copy of Windows Server 2012 R2. Maybe I should give that a try. Of course, I would like the BIOS to recognize the full capability of the processor.
  3. I went to logon to my CAPS 4 build a couple of weeks ago and found Windows 10 stuck in a reboot. From there, things have gone downhill. This is the basic machine, very similar to the suggested build here on CA: =========================================================== Supermicro X10SLH-F motherboard Intel Processor, Xeon QC E3-1275L v3 2.7GHz 8MB 45W SAMSUNG 850 PRO 2.5" 128GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-7KE128BW WD Red 2TB NAS Hard Disk Drive - 5400 RPM Class SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD20EFRX Crucial 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Unbuffered DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Server Memory Model CT2KIT102472BD160B Streacom FC10, Streacom ST-HT4 CPU Cooler Riser, Streacom ST-LH4 Pipes HDPlex Linear Power Supply, HDPlex 250W Internal DC-ATX PSU Paul Pang USB V2 card ASUS wireless adapter Windows 10 JRiver Media Center 23 ========================================================== SuperMicro suggested that I flash the BIOS to their most current, which I did. Suddenly, after having taken many attempts to isolate the problem, the machine started normally. Then I noticed that the BIOS was only recognizing one core of the four cores on the processor. Win 10 only recognized one core. The SuperMicro utility SuperDoctor 5 reported four cores and eight threads. SuperMicro had me short the CMOS (and I had already checked CMOS battery voltage). Didn't help. SuperMicro then suggested that I use the recovery position of the ME jumpers and reinstall the BIOS, then reset the jumpers. That made it worse. Not only does the BIOS still recognize only one core, but now the operating system won't boot --again. Any ideas? Suggestions? Does anyone have an earlier copy of the BIOS to which I could revert?
  4. Anyone had any trouble with audiomuxer? My antivirus has quarantined the .exe file indicating the presence of a virus within. I'm hesitant to install it.
  5. I finally got the software figured out, only to have the Pioneer Elite BDP-80FD be one of the units that would never recognize an SACD layer, only the CD. So I boxed it up and sent it back to amazon.
  6. I suspect the notation that is below is key to this problem: All 1000 scanned ports on 192.168.1.136 are closed Anyone know how to open ports on aPioneer Elite BDP-80fd? 7. Well darn. I thought if I followed this recipe I would get it working. I did everything MikeyFresh describes. But I get this error message when I invoke sacd_extract from my client: Failed to connect libsacdread: Can't open 192.168.1.136:2002 for reading Any ideas to correct? The port was the default in iso2dsd -- trying to figure out exact port now. Any help? Thanks.
  8. Thanks, but not available to download into the United States. The high rez files first mentioned, that is.
  9. OK, answered my own question. The SuperMicro motherboard X10SLH-F only supports one USB 3.0 on its front accessible Type A connector. So in spite of having the "splitter cable" supplied by Streacom, only one port will function.
  10. So I've almost finished this build. The case comes with a USB cable that fits onto the motherboard at header USB 0 and splits into two USB 3.0 Type A connectors that are on either side of the case. I have tried two different cables, but with either one, only one of the two connectors will function. Anyone else had this problem? Am I missing a jumper that needs to be set. Is the SuperMicro motherboard incompatible with the cable supplied with the Streacom FC10Alpha case? I would have thought this would have been discussed elsewhere, but I cannot find any prior posting. Thanks.
  11. Thanks for the detailed and accurate guide. I managed to build the BBB with no trouble. My first forays into getting it up and running consisted of trying to use an old Grace m902 headphone amp as the D/A and that did not fly. It didn't seem that the "NetAudio" was picked up when plugged into my switch, but it was when plugged directly into my router. Now that I have a new Schiit Bitfrost, I have successfully completed the audio chain. I have two questions: [1] In what ways should JRiver be configured to ensure highest quality? (2) Does anyone have an example of a better power supply for the BBB? I saw one mentioned from the UK, and the battery pack for the top of the BBB. Any others?
