  1. Due to room configuration connecting my desktop computer to my DAC will require a USB cable run of about 25 ft. From what I've read, a cable with a signal booster will be required. What other things do I need to know about a long cable run such as this? Cable recommendations would be appreciated too.
  2. Thanks for everyone's input. You all have certainly given me a lot to research. I have looked into the Teac 501/593 and the Oppo Sonica. From my novice perspective, it seems like technology changes rapidly in the Dac world. I have a lot of homework to do!
  3. I really don't know much about them, but I mainly will be listening to Tidal from my desktop or laptop. Just looking for the best sound and highest resolution I can get. Hope that helps.
  4. I'm looking to add a new Dac ($1000 max price range) to my system and would like some recommendations. My current Dac is a Dragonfly black 1.5 fed into one of the auxiliary inputs on my Rogue Cronus Magnum II using a 3.5mm to RCA cable. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Thanks so much for everyone's input, but I have kind of changed gears mid stream. Yesterday I stopped by one of the few high end audio stores in the NOLA area. I listened to the Rogue Cronus Magnum integrated amp with 3 different pairs of speakers. 2 from System-Audio and the Magnepan .7's. All 3 sounded exceptional on that amp. Obviously, I will have to implement other methods to play files from computer, Tidal etc. This blows my budget out of the water a little bit, but what the hell! Not having any way to audition the Peachtree components without purchasing is a real downer, but it is what it is.
  6. If I went with the Heresy's, I could probably step down the Peachtree amp from the se125 to the se65 don't you think?
  7. I've looked at the Heresy's for a long time and been a Klipsch fan ever since my old roommate brought home a pair of LScala's in 1985. My concern with the Heresy's is whether they would over power such a small room (11X14) and I wouldn't get any separation? Outside of the Klipsch Heritage line including the Heresys a lot of the Klipsch floor-standing speakers seem to be more Best Buy type equipment and not true audiophile worthy. Is there anthing in the floorstanding line that I should look at?
  8. Thanks for the input. Especially since this was my 1st post on this site. I haven't dipped into audio since my college days (late 70's) and wow have things changed. So much to process. I've done a lot of research on The LS-50's and the MMG's. No KEF dealer in the New Orleans area to my knowledge, but there is a Magnepan dealer nearby. BTW this would be my "entry level" foray into modern audio equipment. I'm grateful for any and all input/advice and it is much appreciated.
  9. The KEF's are about $1599, so that would probably be my top end.
  10. I'm purchasing the Peachtree Nova SE125 integrated amp and I have narrowed my speaker choice down to the KEF LD 50's at the Magnepan MMG's. Obviously, there is a large price difference in those 2 speaker choices. They will be used in a small room (11X14). My music choices are varied, but I mostly listen to classic rock, acoustic rock and smooth Jazz. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
