  1. I was fortunate to get my money back in the middle of the campaign, because Gavin wanted to shut me up. I was in every forum complaining about them and JA from Stereophile, forwarded an email to Gavin about my complaint. I wouldn't buy anything on crowdfunding anymore. Not worth the risk. And I'm not waiting for a year so save a little bit. I'll wait to buy a product when it comes out on the retail market. If YOU don't have the capital to make a product, then don't expect everyone else to take all the risk.
  2. Just shows the entire industry is full of corruption. Nobody should deal with those scumbags but they're all greedy. So consumers should boycott anyone who hires them or who is associated with them in any way.
  3. MQA is about nothing but revenue for the entire industry. End of story. Period!
  4. Beyond measurement and sound I see little reason for a DAC to cost more than a couple hundred at this point. I'm sure the same companies could tailor the harmonic distortion (a la Bob Carver) to anyone's liking. The rest is marketing.
  5. Meanwhile, Chinese companies are churning out $100 DACs that measure better than virtually everything ever reviewed by the major publications. But apparently there's no interest in revewing them to see if they sound better. Or maybe they have listened and can't reveal the truth?
  6. I know. You read and see on TV about how aggressively they go after crooks but this flagrant violator is never pursued. Then again, it's California where everything goes under the radar and nobody cares about anything.
  7. When I think back, this is probably what I intended to write. I remember reading their marketing spiel and thinking it made no sense.
  8. Yeah what a joke!
  9. ESS makes a DAC chip ES9068AS with MQA built in. I'm guessing licensing fees are built into the pricing. Maybe additional licensing is required to use the chip in a product. https://www.esstech.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ES9068A-Product-Brief-v0.2.pdf
  10. MQA was done for me when they simultaneously touted "better than hi-res" and "saves the crown jewels."
  11. Yep! That worked! I had all but given up last week. Was pulling my hair out! Interestingly, Gizmo for JRMC didn't have the same issue? Thanks for your help!
  12. I've spent many hours trying to get Foobar2000 controller or FoobarCon to work with no luck. I can never get them to link with Foobar2000 player that's installed in Windows 10. I must be doing something wrong.
  13. Most of the high end gear reviewed in the usual publications is just mediocre. All marketing lingo. It's like a cult. You need deprogramming to get away from it.
  14. I know what it is. However, without testing, there's no way to know how good it is. You can't go by specs or chipsets etc. And how did they improve on your DAC? Send you a new main board? A lot has changed since that model came out.
