Alright, well Crutchfield has always been good on that aspect with me. So we're alright there. Also, true on the Vanatoo. I dunno, I'll have to do some research on the two of them, they both sound very good for what I need.
-
Are those much better than the LP2's? That's what I have. Sound wise I love them, as for comfort, they're hell any more than 45 minutes for me.

Alright, I was just checking that version of the Xonar because it had the RCA outputs. I haven't really heard much in the way of PC soundcards besides the sound blaster series. Regardless, from what you're saying. It seems I would be smarter to just spend the little extra $$$ and get the DAC. As for the Vanatoos, what's the sound like on them vs the A5's?

Alright, so is it worth getting the DAC Magic over this per say? ASUS Xonar Essence STX Virtual 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Express x1 Interface 124 dB SNR / Headphone AMP Card - Newegg.com

Just curious, what headphones would you suggest?
-
Out of curiosity. What exactly is that DAC Magic? I know very very little about it/why I would need it.

Somewhat portable generally speaking, but not a requirement, as the AF will move me and all my belongings for free. Mediocre would be below $750-1000 if at all possible. I am not against headphones, I have two right now. V-Moda LP2 and an old set of Bose QC2's. The V-Moda's are good for short periods of time but long listening periods tend to hurt my ears like mad. I just had a friend send me these for a system idea. Okay, so the sub wouldn't be able to feed the speakers as there is no power going -out- I'd have to pick up a decent sound card and run outs to powered speakers or a 2 channel amp and then to bookshelf speakers.. I'm so lost. lol

Just reading into some other threads right now.. Saw one about a 2.1. He had proposed using a 12in powered Polk sub to feed two bookshelf speakers. What would I need to do this? (to connect my pc to the sub? just a small receiver or?)

Hey all, so I just built a new gaming PC. But I want it to be good with music & video as well, for the days I just want to kick back and relax. I really don't know much in the way of audio, so I was hoping I could get a guiding hand here, as well as a little insight as to what to look for, and where to look for it. For this setup I will be on a mediocre budget, so older speakers is perfectly okay by me. But by all means run it all by me and if it's absolutely amazing I could be okay with upping the budget a bit Right now I really just need to know how much money I'll need to set aside for the entire system. Anyways. I live in a pretty small dorm room, I'd say 15ft wide by 25ft deep. So I don't need anything incredibly overpowering, just something with good frequency response and some punchy bass. Most of the music I listen to is electronic, but I've been getting back into my rock taste as well (Sister Sin, Within Temptation, Shakra, Dream Theater, Halestorm, etc.) Currently all I have for audio is a L/R to 3.5mm into a small Bose Soundlink Mini... So it's not really satisfying. I've been thinking about getting a decent 5.1 home theater receiver and some good speakers/sub to go with it. But I have no idea what ones are good for what I need since there are -so- many variables that I really don't know crap about.. Let me know what you think I should look into!
