I spoke with a tech at Crutchfield and he suggested something like this. Marantz SR7007 7.2-channel home theater receiver with Apple AirPlay® at Crutchfield.com for my purposes. An all in one AV receiver with 125 watts/channel. said If I want more power for the main drivers, I need to get a separate pre-amp receiver and multi-channel amp. Does this advice make sense? I have an old set of Definitive technology speakers that can handle 300 watts, not sure if 125 is enough. I don't play my music very loud, so 125 is probably plenty?

The best I can figure out is a usb cable goes from computer to a DAC, then another cable, don't know what kind goes from DAC to a home theater receiver. The receiver then breaks down that signal into center right/ left, front and rear. That receiver may or may not provide the power for the speakers. If not then you have either a combined or individual amps powering the speakers. How does the video get tied into this, I don't know. Can anyone help fill in the gaps for me. Right now I run audio / video via HDMI cable from computer to tv / monitor. No cable tv, just using tv as a monitor. Again thanks

Need some help setting up a 5 or 7 speaker system. My input will be streaming audio, video and stored music on my computer. What equipment do I need to achieve this. I've tried to figure it out but just get confused. All equipment will be new, nothing existing to fight with. Thanks in advance.
