My first post and I hope this is posted in the right area.
Totally new to the concept of music server, but I am highly impressed with the concept. So I have started prices and parts list to build a basic music server following is what I am considering to purchase 1) Steacom F10 case; 2)Asus B85MG. R.2.0 motherboard; 3)G. Skill 2x4GB Memory= 8GB total or maybe 16GB total; 4) Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5 SATA III system drive; 5)Purchased- WD Blue 1 TB 3.5 7200rpm, 64mb cache.
At this point the novice is beginning to bloom(lol) I would like some feedback concerning adding a sound card. (Asus Xonar Essecene STX) I just realized that I need a PCI Express Riser Extender Card for this set up . . . "how did they make that card lay to the side ? ? ? " lol . . .lol finally figured that out ! ! This build is strictly for my two speaker stereo system, and will not be connected to the computer at all. Will on do a wireless connect for updates and downloads. I hoping to get feedback on the entire concept but the sound card feedback would be of great help. Also I do not understand the Power supply configuration of my choice which is HDPlex 160W confused concerning the external 19v AC/DC adapter is this part of the packing or a separate purchase? ?
