  1. Couldn't have put it any more succinct, in the face of pure logic, there are those who still refuse to face the facts
  2. great to read these posts, at least they explained the background to those without a full knowledgeable background in this field like me. so far, I can at least try to follow. seems we all want things and want it now. this post was done 4 days ago and over weekend also. people today have no patience and demand others serve them now. a please or thank you would be nice so I will say it here - thanks ifi
  3. Is iFi and AMR suggesting that because inputs on the APrecision 2 are not isolated and the computer connection is also not isolated - this creates noise problems that would not exist with a normal HiFi system!?! can you explain
  4. Welcome iFi! Customer and fan here! I've been reading your very informative (and comical ;-) ) threads and posts on head-fi and enjoy them too! thanks for the freebies to by the way I'm sure you'll do the same here and become very popular amongst the CA community! Although we are more mature (imo) we do like a laugh and a joke too :-D Btw nice Easter egg! caught me out on that one grz pulling it off!
  5. The cost of the Chord is a lot more but the sound quality in some areas better than the iDAC 2 but in some areas worse. Neither better or worst its a personal thing, I own the iDSD nano (soon iDAC2) so I already have become familiar with that SQ from ifi
  6. They showed me, ha! But least I can do it on my Mac too :-D Where are you guys getting stuff in DSD256? I've only got DSD64. & yes Yash -- that definitely was the Easter egg . . . and completely unexpected. Did you see my thread about Sound liaisons? iFi gave away from free DSD and also did some joint collab with Native DSD (can't remember) though. There is some DSD 256 tracks under the support section http://support.ifi-audio.com/kb/faq.php?id=50 but not much though. I have a friend in the UK who is an Octa-adopter (actually recommended the iDSD nano to me then he got the micro version) and hes in the iClub. When iFi hands out to the iClub guys DSD tracks he sends them to me :-D
  7. Hey there! Am quite sure toslink only guaranteed to work up to 96khz so if you get more, is a bonus. Nature of the beast :-)
  8. iFi would never write a Mac firmware as it is too much work, I doubt it. You need to find a windows as it will take no more than 5 mins
  9. Will give you link to ESS digital volume control paper, there is no such thing as a digital volume control that does not lose bits. Would like chord to explain their justification The Well-Tempered Computer
  10. Some mainstream USB cables sound as good as some audio phile ones. No consistency. But those who charge more than $500 I don't have an interest. Better spend the moollaa elsewhere imo!
  11. yes not the first time you were burned on hifi news positive recommendations. Good luck with the dac hunt!

    USB-2 and USB-3

Are you running 2 USB DAC's? This is because both drivers can fight over the USB port, cancelling / disabling / removing so there is only 1 will work. > These days, many laptops come with both USB-2 and USB-3. Will this solve this problem? Do they have completely separate circuits so that we can play songs from USB-3 drives to USB-2 DAC without problems? - USB 3 ports are backwards compatitble, it should be fine, problems look like its PC related not USB related imo.
  13. I have a friend in the UK that knows one of the reviewers for this magazine. He told me of all UK magazines Hifi news is the least trustworthy as the editor is a control freak and organises good reviews for his biggest advertisers. Go with the Oppo as the opposite of what he says.
  14. Ok so I've listened to them both, including the iDSD nano (mine). For price ratio & performance - iDAC 2 wins hands down but the Chord has something more going for it though. The iDAC 2 is about a 30% improvement over the iDSD nano, so I've put in my order for the iDAC2 bundle with the iPurifier
