  1. Do you have a link to this? Very curious to read about this mod. It appears the top and bottom are replaced with pure copper plates with drilled holes? Personally, I have no intentions of selling my T+A DAC8. I alternate between Roon + T+A for DSD512, and JRiver + Schiit Yggdrasil for PCM. Works for me.
  2. David, Good catch. When adding to the queue, making sure the resolution matches, there is no pause or stoppage of playback on the last track of the currently playing album. So, the stoppage of playback only occurs when resolution doesn’t match between albums. Can this be fixed? Many thanks for your attention to this issue.
  3. Nope. The last track will start to play then playback stops/pauses for a second or two then playback resumes. Note that it occurs on the last track of the currently playing album. It is not a pause between albums. The final track just stops playing. As I stated above, I am assuming the queued album is being loaded or saved to cache which is causing the stoppage/pausing of playback.
  4. I personally would send it in for the upgrade to Unison. Doing so should qualify your unit for the extended warranty. It was worthwhile for me to update the Gen 5 card. Nevertheless, it is good to hear it is working again.
  5. My only guess would be the receiver chip on the USB board got fried. Or at least some part got fried due to some aberrant voltage spike? Is your Yggdrasil pre-Gen 5 board? I have a Gen 5 board available since I recently upgraded my Yggdrasil to Unison. So, I swapped out the board using instructions on the web. Since it appears you are in NYC I can mail you my Gen 5 board or you can pick it up. Otherwise, you may need to send in your Yggdrasil for repair. I think if you send the DAC to Schiit for an upgrade to the Unison board, you get an extension of the warranty. Also, your Yggdrasil may still be under warranty.
  6. David, Please see attached screenshot. 1. Start playing an album. 2. Click on Discover or Favourites tab. Select another album. 3. Click on the More "..." menu item. Click on "Add to queue." 4. Wait until the last track starts to play. Playback will pause/stop for a couple of seconds at the beginning of the track. (I assume while the next album loads, or is saved to the cache?)
  7. I subscribed to Sublime+ this week. Been using the Qobuz desktop application in both Windows and Mac. When adding an album to the queue while an album is currently playing, the application stops playback for a couple of seconds during the last track of the currently playing album. Neither Roon nor JRiver do this (when accessing local files on a hard drive). Is there a way to correct this behavior?
  8. I'm getting off topic in this thread, but I downloaded Lossless Audio Checker, and ran the files i downloaded from Presto and also recent hi-res Qobuz files. They all tested "clean." I had three files from Presto, two 24/192 and one 24/96 (Alpha); and one 24/96 (Sony). Still bothered by the tagged comment in the Alpha files.
  9. I just checked a couple of downloads from the Alpha label which I bought from Presto, and the same comment appears. So, it would appear that the label is resampling the CD quality files to sell up-rezed versions. i also have other hi-Rez downloads from Presto, Sony and Hyperion, which do not have such comment.
  10. Depends on how you intend to use the Freya. I use mine mostly (99% of the time) in passive mode. The 128 step attenuator is worth the price for me. But, you need to have your system gain dialed in for this to work well. Edit: oh, and its balanced which is required in my use case.
  11. Yes. I am talking about the above. Ok, I emailed the US rep for T+A. Currently, only T+A Germany can do the update for now. He is working with the service department in Germany to get the US repair shop the tools they need to do the update here in the US. May take a few weeks. Once ready, I'll be sending my unit to Georgia for the update. Peace of mind = easier path. Thanks all.
  12. Since I am still encountering the same “pop” “chirping” static noise when playing back 96/192 family files upconverted to DSD512, I have revisited this thread for some updates. It appears since the above posts by @louisxiawei in June, there has been updates to the DAC firmware and several iterations of the Amanero firmware which potentionally solved the problem, sort of. But, as of today, there is no official T+A “fix” for this problem because firmware is still being beta tested. Correct? So, those of us with this problem are still in wait mode? And based on the past few pages, T+A considers this issue an isolated occurrence, so an official fix might not be forth coming. Which means I may need to start splicing together RS232 cables and playing Russian roulette with my DAC.

Can you provide a link for the details on this new firmware? I can't seem to find a reference to it the T+A's website. I have the same problem with the DSD512x48 pops. Many thanks in advance.
