  1. That violates Tidal's terms of service and is likely illegal in many countries.
  2. I've seen some uninformed speculation that Lenbrook might start an MQA streaming service. That would be perfect. It would quarantine MQA to the few hundred people who like it and keep it away from the general population.
  3. When I updated the Tidal Windows desktop app, it reset the exclusive mode setting to off. Turning it on restored mqa core decoding. To see if a max track is mqa or standard pcm flac, toggle the mqa passthru setting. Passthru on disables core decoding, off performs core decoding. If it's 44.1/48 with passthru on and 88.2/96 with passthru off it's mqa. If it's the same either way it's flac.
  4. Also removing mqa from cd-quality hifi tier...
  5. 1.8 is an old release. What is the version on your remote app? They should be the same.
  6. While waiting for roon mobile, i had added my local library to my tidal favorites using soundiiz. (I got over 90% hits, plus a few karaoke substitutions.) When arc came out, I gave it my best effort. After having to set up port forwarding in my router (how many consumers know how to do that?) it worked. Sort of. One day it would work. Next day it wouldn't. I have verizon 5g unlimited. Curiously it worked in rural Alabama and Georgia for a couple of hours on 4g with two or three bars. But around town with 5guw it is hit or miss. I get "poor connection" (with speed test showing solid 300+ mbps connection,or just nothing. Also, arc doesn’t have tidal my mixes, last time I looked. Tidal plays anything anywhere there's a cell connection, and plays downloaded content when there isn't. Over bluetooth and android auto. After giving up on arc, I tried it again on android auto yesterday. It looked like it was trying to play something I played a month ago, but no sound. It wouldnt show anything from my roon library. Back to tidal mobile. Anyway, i can't use roon arc, and I'm done trying to. I guess they tried, but it seems they don’t have the technical chops to execute (sort of like radio). At best they checked a box and are moving on. I still love roon for local playback.
  7. Just noticed an mqa "master" album disappeared from tidal. Renaissance by Marcus Miller (Concord Jazz label, May 2012) was previously available as a 16/44.1 mqa master, but is now only available as 16/44.1 flac. Don't know if mqa was the only version before or if the flac verson was also there or has now replaced it. He's still got others on tidal in mqa, one from Warner/Rhino (mqa only), another from Universal/Decca (both flac and mqa). Didn’t go through his entire catalog. Anyway, has anyone else noticed disappearing mqa albums on tidal? Could this be an encouraging trend?
  8. Nice update. ARC missing some things like access to bookmarks, Tidal mixes/new releases. Plus, normal people aren't going to be able to figure out the setup. I can't imagine recommending it to a friend or relative, then having to try to explain it.
  9. It appears Tidal Hifi (non-plus) users are getting 16/44.1 MQA for some titles: https://community.roonlabs.com/t/new-pricing-for-tidal/177479/58 (I still don't get the point of 16/44.1 MQA.)
  10. Consider Denon AVR. They have a feature called "dynamic eq" that's like a smart loudness button. Works great for restoring "fullness" at low volumes.
  11. At this point, doesn't look like it's happening.
  12. Yes, absurd. Disclaimer: I'm the one that got banned for "trying to damage the forum." Sad that the COO has time to spend on the social media potential for their "community" instead of fixing bugs.
  13. Latest roon forum drama: https://community.roonlabs.com/t/censorship-about-off-topic-things/173158
  14. The amp he mentions has optical and coax digital inputs and built-in AKM DAC.
