In essence, can I achieve the same result as a DRC system by manually measuring my room's response curve and adjusting an EQ to correct any deficiencies?

Hi all, What are the differences between treating unfavorable elements of a room's acoustics with a digital room correction (DRC) system versus measuring the response of a room in a similar manner to the DRC but manually adjust volume at certain frequencies using a software or hardware multi-band EQ. In essence, both implementations smoothen out a poor response curve but are there additional advantages for one method vs. the other? Thanks
