Euphony OS w/Stylus player setup and issues thread
michaeltay5871 replied to bobfa's topic in Music Servers
I had the same problem with a headless GPU server. I used a simple solution of just removing my Optane drive and reformat it completely (or you can ask any of your friend or even your computer shop to do it). Once you attach it back and switch on the computer it will automatically read the USB (with version 4) since there is nothing else to boot into. From there just go to setting and activate the install button.- 5300 replies

Do you still need the 2 caps (on the rectifier board) since the Saligny by itself is sufficient?
-
Ok thanks.
-
What about placements of the chokes? One in between two 22kuF and other between 22kuF and 47kuF?
-
I found out I have ordered three 47000uf and two 22000uf Mundoff HC caps instead of the other way round. Is this still workable and I have to place a choke between a 22000uf and 47000 uf cap or is there a better configuration than this?
-
Thanks elan120.

24 VAC to give 33 VDC after rectification.

I have purchased the Saligny standard but it looks puny. Can I just go ahead and connect it to the transformer, cap and choke as shown in Nenon ULPS? My transformer is Toroidy extreme TSAS400VA-voltage-to-50V. Specs of the Saligny standard are : Operates from DC to 600Hz. AC operating voltage 6Vac to 46Vac. DC operating voltage 9Vdc to 65Vdc. Iq = 1,5mA. Continuous load current up to 20A or more depending on mosfet configuration. Over 200A pulsed current at Ta = 25Celsius ( Max Rθjc = 1.0C/W, pulse duration ≤100 μs, duty cycle ≤1%). Require a minimum output capacitor of 1000μF Do not support centre tapped transformer.

Just for clarification. Do you need to use a brand new card or just reflash the existing one?

Shootout at the Linux Corral: AudioLinux vs Euphony
michaeltay5871 replied to bobfa's topic in Music Servers
I have personally tried both Euphony and AudioLinux and found without doubt that Euphony is better sounding. No matter how I tweak Audiolinux it has a somewhat brighter and more forward sound. Has anyone tweak AL to be very close or even better than Euphony? I would greatly appreciate if he or she can share the settings here.- 390 replies

Yes my Sms200 has been upgraded to ultra version then to Neo with internal silver cables and RF absorbers. I am also using the Sotm master clock for the Sms200. For server I am using a Sotm upgraded mini-itx with master clock and running audiolinux in extreme mode. The NUC I am using is a NUC6cayh also running audiolinux in extreme mode.

With May's help I think the stuttering problem may be solved for Roon/Squeezelite endpoint. You have to determine the Sample Format from the DAC information (my SU1 is 32_LE), put the Max Sample Rate at 768,000 and make the buffer time above 160 ( I put my as 200). So far smooth as silk after many days of stuttering. I find the SQ of Roon/Squeezelite to be better than Roon/RoonBridge. Music seems to be slower with more body to it. With this 4.5 software upgrade and comparing to a NUC endpoint we now able to enjoy the benefits of all the upgrades on the SMS200 such as Neo, silver internal cables, RF absorbers and of course the master clock goodness. Now the SMS200 has replaced my NUC as my preferred endpoint.
