  1. hi all my listening time is usually after 9pm. Family is asleep and i can enjoy my audio in peace for hours till midnight. However, my habbits changed now and my listening time goes from 7pm till late. Sometimes in the late evening even. I noticed a noticable degradation in sound quality during this time. And i mean a lot. Especially in the mid bass, subBass and soundstage. i live in a housing neighbourhood and not near any industries and factories. The sound quality drops noticably..however there is no HUMS and HISSES like i heard many people with dirty mains power usually experience. Sometimes....very rarely if someone opens the fridge or switched on the air conditioning, there is a slight POP. just very slight, not enough to bother me. However, the loss in bass and soundstage bothers me to no end. i even switch off the water fountain and it helps the sound slightly. So what is my solution to this situation? Im pretty sure is the mains power that is inconsistent..since after 9, the sound quality is perfect again after most of the other appliances is switched off My systems are nad m51 -> gustard u12 -> densen b200 ->densen b330 -> neat mf5 and genesis g928s. I/C and speaker cables are tchernov reference. Power cords and power conditioners are standard. So what are my solutions to prevent this scenario? i Have close to 0 knowledge on electronics so please not too technical lolz. And hopefully the solution is not too expensive 1) install a power conditioner such as RGPC? or is there other conditioner? 2)install a power regenerator? such as ps audio p3 (too expensive though) 3) dedicated lines? Seriously i have no idea how to do this and would avoid this case if possible. How hard is it to do if i asked the help of an electrician? 4) balanced isolation transformer? 5) any other solutions? 6) stick to listening at 9pm 7) upgrade power cords (pretty sure this is not the solution) any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks all
  2. The dac im using is the nad m51 connected to densen b200 pre and b330 power. Im connecting the sub via pre out 2 of the densen b200. How do you reckon i can take the bassload off the speakers? Im thinking that i need to high pass the speakers an i correct?
  3. Hi all I need some help with the crossover setup for my subwoofer. My neat mf5 speakers goes down to 29hz -3db while my subwoofer crossover is only to 40hz at the lowest. So i have a overlapping of frequency. My amp and preamp have no subwoofer management and my subwoofer do not have eq. My squbwoofer ia the genesis g928 with dual 12inch woofers. My room is acoustically treated with bass traps and diffusers. I am very satisfied with my 2 channel and was trying to achieve to the low 20hz ffrequency for pipe organ music and to increase soundstage. I know many will recommend getting a external dsp like mini dsp or velodyne sms1...but there will be an extra cable to connect these devices to my main system. And therefore will effect the performance of my main system indirectly. What i desire is just to crossover the subwoofer to 30hz lowpass to blend well with my speakers. Or to crossover my speakers high pass to 40hz to blend well with my subwoofwrs. So is there any way i can externally or internally crossover my sub to 30hz without affecting the main performance of my current speakers? Or ia there any way i can crossover my speakers to 40hz without an external device? (Without the involving another set orlf ultra expensive interconnects) Thank you all for the help and sorry for the long post.
  4. This may be due to my overall system, which tends to be leaning to the bright side of neutral. This is all fun
  5. I actually was not 100% sure about the "details" of the upgrade as it was done by a diy friend who is a genious in amp design. Basically the modification if i recall correctly is in the analoque stage of the dac. The power supply is added to the analoque stage. The reclock is done in the spdif end. Not the usb end. Because he cant find the reclock crystal for the usb section. In total there is 4 crystals in the nad, but only 1 is reclocked (the spdif part). After the upgrade, the sound is actually more detailed and more resolution. Although honestly the sound becomes less "easy listening" and more "analytical" than the standard nad m51. For me the standard nad m51 is so neutral and nice listening, i can listen to anything with it. Now theres more WoOoooww factor with good recordings but moreee oucchhh with bad recording. So i begin to listen my bad recording less. Therefore im looking for a spdif converter to add some more touch of musicality while retaining the insane detail of the current dac. Best of both world. Im seeing the gustard as the clear front runner, as i would think the puc2 lite will be even more detail .
  6. Thanks for the info. Can you briefly describe the effect the gustard u12 adds to your system? Like the sound signature it adds to your system. Much appreciated
  7. maybe its better to get the cheaper one for trying out...but will wait first for some other input from members who tried them. Thank you very much for the advice
  8. thats the plan, but some knowledge on which will minimise my risk for my needs would be beneficial wouldnt it :)Therefore i want to gain some knowledge on which device would suit my needs, and some expertise from members who has succesfully matched a usb/spdif converter to the nad m51. These would definitely remove lots of risks and money associating with trial and error . thank you very much for the advice.
  9. from many forums, many were saying that they found a huge improvement by adding a usb/spdif converter to the nad m51. just wanna experiment on whetherthe improvement wi/ ll be as great as people say. maybe i should try the cheaper option for experimentation. this is the audiophile curse aint it?
  10. Hi all Getting my first usb interface and was wondering some questions. System will be used is macminiw/ audirvana -> usb interface -> nad m51 -> densen b200/b330 - >neat mf5 The nad is reclocked and with an external power supply. cables is tchernov reference i/c and speaker cables. usb is vertere d-fi and chord silverplus. all standard power cord. xlo signature aes/ebu cable Decide to add a usb interface as many is saying that nad m51 usb implementation is not so good. honestly i cant detect much problem, but if it can make sound better by adding usb interface, why not? my current System is dynamic and punchy, detailed with deep but not so wide stage. just to inform im totally satisfied with my system, just wanting to smoothen things a little and more bass detail and extension. and of course increase overall performance if possible Was interested in the audiophilleo, however theres some choices like the yellowtec puc2 and gustard u12 that is compared positively against the audiophilleo. Also i would like to connect via aes/ebu which is said to be the best connection with the m51 My choices so far are the gustard u12 and the yellowtec puc2 lite. As i want to connect via aes/ebu (audiophilleo is out) Was reading good things to these 2 system, but i cannot try it out before implementing to the system Any other recomendations? would like to keep budget below 1000usd. the lower the better. Main priority is musicality, smoothness, full bodied bass, good ambience and wide and deep soundstage. I dont need more detail, more resolution and brightness. Thank you all for any advice Cheers all!! any advice is much appreciated
