  1. Unfortunately the reply from my ticket with LH Labs didn't get me anywhere: "I have received your support case regarding issues with the Geek Out. The Geek Out was not designed for use with mobile phones, it just happens to work in many instances. Given that, we provide best effort support. Unfortunately, with the huge variations in hardware and OS with Android, it does not work with all Android devices. I have done some searching in the Geek Force forum and have not been able to confirm if the Geek Out works with the S5 (I do not have access to an S5 to test with). I do know it works with the S4 running Lollipop. The only recommendation I can provide is to try searching through the Head-Fi Android/USB DAC threads to see if anyone got it working. Sorry I am unable to provide any concrete answers for this issue. Given the above, and that Geek Out is not fully compatible with mobile devices, I will close this case. If you have any further questions/issues, please open a new case and we will be glad to help out."
  2. I am attempting to use a Geek Out 1000 connected via USB OTG (with external power) with my Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900R7 running Android 5.0 Lollipop) with very limited success. The first thing I tried was the full/paid version of the Onkyo HF player. I can get this setup to make noise but am getting fairly regular small pops/clicks and dropouts even on just 16/44.1 FLAC files. The problems are much worse with 24-bit music and even though the Geek Out 1000 supports DSD256 via DoP the software always resamples to 24/88.2 even though the DSD over DoP option is enabled and the option to resample PCM to DoP doesn't do anything either. This is confirmed via the output bitrate/sample rate shown both in the software and the light status of the DAC. I cannot find any buffer settings or anything else to try within this software to try and resolve the issues. I have also tried the trial version of USB Audio Player Pro. I can also get some output but regardless of the various buffer and setting changes I make (I've tried every combination) it constantly cuts out to pure silence more than it plays music - much worse than what I experience with the Onkyo HF Player. Again, enabling DSD-DoP does not get it to output DSD to the DAC for unknown reasons, not that it matters anyways with such big playback problems. Has anyone else been successful with this phone/DAC combination or have any suggestions? Any input would be appreciated.
