1. Sort of resurrecting this thread again. I have to say a big Thank You to W4S for responding to my very recent emails and replying back to me with very useful information. Have to say it's really nice when companies like Wyred4sound still offering great customer service even when it's a for small item (Recovery) and I see that it's still offered in there current product line. I recently acquired a Recovery (V.3) and this thread has inspired me to build a small rechargeable battery supply for it. When I'm finished with the build and test it in my smaller system(w/battery powered rDAC); I'll post pics and results in this thread. I'm looking forward to trying out this little guy and see what it can do.
2. Thanks Domie, I think I have hijacked this thread long enough and I thank all of the ones who replied. Cheers
3. So does the "Hiface 2 Asynchronous" have the same latency problems as the "Hiface 1" ? Thanks
4. Yes that is correct . Now I'm trying to achieve an answer for the Mac OS platform.
5. This is interesting. The M2Tech bulk-mode protocol does not feature the large latency in windows? I was talking about the Hiface 1, not the Hiface 2 which I think is a very different animal when it comes to handshaking with the computer via usb. Correct me if I'm wrong? There is a posting in another thread that the Hiface 2 shouldn't have the latency problem with Apple OS. I just need someone to confirm this.
6. Thanks for the info, very useful. I really appreciate the time you've taken to answer my esoteric questions. I would just like to confirm that if I use the Hiface 2, I will not experience the latency audio lag when watching video from a Apple Mac OS machine? Cheers!
7. I'm having the video playback latency issue with my HiFace and Mac Mini. Is there any solution?
8. Thanks for the reply but not the news I was looking for. I can't believe I didn't learn about this problem sooner. I just purchased a Hiface and the Lyngdorf to simply life. I didn't have this problem with my outboard usb dacs. Is this problem just with the HiFace or with all USB>SPDIF convertors working with apple?
9. Hi, Got a quick question and hopefully can be answered. I have a HiFace USB>SPDIF v.1 connected to straight into my new Lyngdorf TDA 2200 digital amp and MacMini and I have the problem with latency (timing with sound) with video. Is there a way to fix it? Is there a different Mac driver that may fix this latency problem for video? I now see that Hiface's website has a posting of this problem with mac's and not windows. I use my Mac mini/hiface/Lyngdorf for both music and to watch video like netflix and internet streaming. I'm pretty bummed out as I didn't see this one coming and spent quite a bit of time and money to have this set-up. I'm not interested loading Windows onto my mac. Thanks
10. James did get back to me quickly and stated that 3dB is the most that can be adjusted without lowering quality.
11. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give audiocircle a try. Cheers
12. I went ahead and entered the codes but unfortunately my estimate in the difference in dB between sources was drastically low. I entered the 253 code and I was able to hear the difference but it was not nearly enough to match my other sources. The Bryston DAC is still very loud compared to other inputs. The difference to all my other sources is that the BDA-1 volume is 8 o'clock and my other sources to match volume is 9:30 o'clock. I can never exceed 10 o'clock with the BDA, the neighbors would call the police. By any chance, Are there any other codes to reduce the output level even more? Cheers
13. I know this a bit late in post's but I am wondering if there is a way to adjust the output (volume) level coming out of the DAC? I have the remote control and using balanced out outputs to my preamp (Accuphase). The problem I have is that the volume level is very high (approx 3db) compared to all of my other inputs including my other DAC. I almost damaged my speakers when changing inputs from tuner to my computer because the volume difference was so great. I read in an other forum that the output can be adjusted but I failed to do this, no where in the manual states this as well. I would love to be able to fix this otherwise I may sell the DAC just out of the connivence factor. Appreciate any help that can be offered. Cheers

Pure Music

I tried PM for a while and gave it a solid audition but experienced problems and had issues with it visually. I posted these problems and received comments that I was alone with these problems. It's now been 6 months since I ceased using PM but still receiving post from other people about similar issues. I for one will have to say it's not the users at fault. If these random issues still occur then it has be regarded as a buggy software and the user posting that they are having problems or issues should not be talked down as a child that doesn't know what they're talking about. I can't tell how many different Mac applications I have that are simple to use and have no issues with, unlike PM. I originally came from the early DOS PC software world using CAD programs and many other PC applications I had to deal with and figure out, I'm no novice but I had problems with PM. I went to Mac so I didn't have worry about such problems but with PM I did, I know other users did not experience issues (good for them). I commend the creator of PM for making such a product and glad to see it being developed but I do see it as buggy as PC beta software. I would have a hard time justifying the price for something that needs more work and polish as other Mac programs offered & created by small low budget groups and paid for by the public. I think the creator of PM has to recognize that some people are having problems and should look in the mirror and not blame such issues being caused by the user. If you have to keep addressing such issues, you have to question yourself whether you have developed the proper UI for the typical computer user. This is what this application for, isn't it: a typical avg. mac user? Sorry for the post, I know your trying to do good and improve the world in audiophile. I'm just getting my in box clogged with emails about issues, I don't think it's going to go away or it's a problem with just a couple of people who don't how to use a computer. It seems to be more than that. I would love to see PM bug free and graphically & UI improved. Once this is done then I think it would really take off in the audiophile world.
15. I currently have a Bridge breaking in along with some other gear so I am reserving my comments on sound until I give it a good long listen (which I'm looking forward to) but I will say like others have posted above is that the communication and attitude of Halide/devilsound is excellent.

Every time I contacted them with some question I would get a response in a timely manner that is well written and fully detailed. I have to say it's been refreshing and a huge plus.

Cheers
