  1. I strongly believe you should have known since a simple google search of "SMLS Q5 problems" would have shown the problems in the first listing (Amazon.com). Read the 1-3 star reviews (5 minutes time and there by late October) and you would not have purchased. Ever hear the adage "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"? Isn't 5 minutes of investigation now worth not having problems later? I took offense to you disparaging/defaming a company I have been dealing with for close to 30 years and have found to be one of the most honest, efficient, helpful vendors I have ever dealt with because you were too busy or lazy to read my posts or search for the answer yourself. This group Hey guys...we need a little rallying here... - AVS | Home Theater Discussions And Reviews and many others would agree with me. As far as my language skills, my first post was brief because I thought you could click on the link I put there and find the information explaining your problem and the solution. I just checked. You could have. My second post was concise but more complete with a link which anyone with basic electronics knowledge could follow. When I "lost it" was with your smart ass comment about the link I posted being clear. If you don't read Simplified Chinese you could simply go to the next paragraph, which was in English, or use Chrome with auto translate turned on and if you don't know what an I2S stream or PWM is, google is your friend. DACs, which is what the discussion was about, use I2S I²S - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Search took 3 seconds to find that result. You strike me as a typical, averagely intelligent, impatient American who wishes to be spoon fed info instead of finding it themselves. Perhaps because the mostly useless schools in the US don't teach students how to learn any more, but instead spoon feed "facts", often incorrect, to the masses. Most governments don't want inquisitive subjects. English is my native language though I retired and left permanently 17 years ago as I had seen what the USSA was becoming and valued my freedom. It took me a few years to earn enough to escape after seeing the writing on the wall. I only speak/read/write 6 other languages, having worked or lived in 16 countries during my lifetime, so perhaps I sometimes forget others don't have my facility with any of my vernaculars. I wish you well in life. Best of luck. I'd say I think you'll need it, but that would be churlish so I will honestly just say good luck. 2. Not affiliated with PE or SMLS. Simply a long time customer of a very good company which was being slammed by someone too lazy to read previous posts. It's very discouraging to see someone so obviously lacking in knowledge disparaging products and sellers because they won't make the effort to read, even when the links are put there for them. Anyone who blames others for their lack of due diligence needs to grow up. Censorship is a sign of a small mind. And with that I expect to be banned. Certainly no loss to me.
  3. KK, you are correct, but sometimes the astounding stupidity of people gets to me. Apologies to YOU.
  4. And next paragraph is in ENGLISH. Doesn't surprise me you can't read that either.
  5. As stated, you have a version 1 of the Q5 which has a number of known problems. V2 has -6 to +6 tone controls. If you want a solution call Parts Express and get a replacement power supply. 19volt. If you just want to continue to complain about a product which already has a fix go right ahead. I, unlike you, did my research and bought a version 2 from PE which has the problems fixed. Works perfectly. V1 24 volt supply. Voltage and firmware problems. This amp is firmware controlled. A small percentage had problems. V2 19 volt with all problems solved. V3 with minor firmware tweaks available from Gemini Doctor at Amazon.com Ignorance is not always bliss.
  6. Simplified explanation below. It has a section which converts the digital signal to analog via pulse width modulation, then a filter and out to the speakers. The amp is pure digital till the final stage. Better explanation here. ST STA350BW 2x50W 2.1 Detailed at st.com
  7. You can tell by the power supply. 24V V2 is 19V and has different firmware. V3 is due to ship next month. Push the volume knob to access tone controls.
