  1. Easter without the Matthäus - impossible for many of us. But is there really any need for yet another version? - Absolutely! This one might even turn out to be my new favorit. Although I have not been able to listen to all the tracks yet I have to say that so far, very promising indeed.
  2. Oh yes very beautiful as well as eClassical - Rachmaninov - Liturgy of St John Chrysostom
  3. Probably meant to be funny, but unfortunately it is not because it is so true. But those who should feel addressed by this in this forum most certainly won't understand that it's about them anyway. Just sayin.
  4. Doc, more often than not I do appreciate and agree with your posts here but this time I think you're slightly out of line. Here we have this Priaptor guy behaving badly (to put it mildly) and suddenly sphinxsix, the one who rightly speaks out against that, is the villain? Not exactly logical, is it? And this put-him-on-your-ignore-list talk really is kind of thoughtless I think. Should we just put everyone on an (imaginary) ignore list when somebody isn't behaving like a decent person? Isn't it everyone's damned duty to react and make it clear to the perpetrator that such behavior is not acceptable. In a bigger sense should we just put Putin on our ignore list, shrug our shoulders and move on? Sorry for dragging in politics here, I am actually against that, but this is just to demonstrate what I mean with a bigger picture. I actually think Chris is far too tolerant concerning such matters. Political statements of any kind should not be allowed here because I dare say nobody comes here to discuss politics and nobody comes here to be insulted either. The vast majority of us are here to read and write about things connected to music and the equipment to listen to it, except for this thread of course. But still, even here political statements, comments and insults (even in a disguised form) should not be allowed.
  5. Thank you! We are not so few waiting for just that.
  6. well what can one say about this? Chris seems to be ok with Priaptors behavior so he probably is on the same level, otherwise he would do something about it
  7. and how do you feel about this one?
  8. And so do a lot of people here in Sweden. It's broadcasted on TV every year. Although we wait until New Year's Eve.
  9. If this isn't perfect playing in the right style, romantic that is, I don't know what would be. Highly recommended! It's neither a Christmas nor Daily deal but still at reduced price if I'm not mistaken. eClassical - R. Schumann: String Quartets Nos. 1-3, Op. 41
  10. clicking on only shows a few recordings This may work though: go to Naxos own webbsite, look for New Releases (you can choose any month you like) and then go back to eClassical and check if the recording is available there. New releases should be 24 bit I guess. A bit inconvenient maybe but it could work.
  11. And you should be - pleased that is. It's quite different from what I am used to which is the Quartetto Italiano version but I do enjoy it very much indeed and the sq is first class as so often with BIS recordings. I still prefer Quartetto Ialiano which is more romantic (and Schubert was a romantic, wasn't he) although the sq, if not poor but shows it's age and does not get close to the Chiaroscuro's recording but in no way do I regret buying the BIS download. And it comes with the No. 9, D173 which is really nice as well.
  12. Thanks for the confirmation. But then again, I have already discovered before this occasion that I often seem to favour the same classical recordings and artists than you do. /Mani
