  1. Here's are some links: http://www.47labs.co.jp/4722.html http://www.sakurasystems.com/products/4722.html I don't know enough technically to add anything more than, they make my foot tap....oops.....there it goes again.....
  2. I own and completely enjoy the 47 Labs Lens speaker. I'm designing a couple of systems for different rooms, but 47 Labs doesn't make the Lens anymore. Please help me find a speaker that: 1. Sounds like the Lens. 2. Roughly the same size of a small monitor. I will place them on stands, but I'm open to floor-standers, if they are a small footprint. (Like the Totem Arro.) 3. I'll be using the 47 Labs Shigaraki amplifier, as well as other class-T designs. I want to keep playing around with low wattage, affordable solid state and tube amps. I don't listen to music loud that much, and when I do, my current Shigaraki system does just fine. 4. I'm willing to pay for a high quality fit & finish. Nothing ugly or weird. The simpler, the better. I am a music listener. I don't care about technical specifications. I like my foot to tab and to have a big grin on my face when I listen to music. Tap, tap, tap, tap.... Thank YOU very much for reading....
  3. Last.fm - http://www.last.fm/user/TimbrePitch Blip.fm - http://blip.fm/TimbrePitch Twitter - http://twitter.com/TimbrePitch It's all about "Listening To Music".
  4. I'll have whatever you're having.... I like your favorites!
  5. I added you as a friend (or whatever they call it). I want to know more about Last.fm. Like I said, I'm not into "scrobbling", but I love sharing songs and playlists. Blip.fm is more for sharing songs, especially through Twitter. I've been part of a thriving Blip/Twitter community that just plays and shares music with each other. I'm trying to find a way to integrate Last.fm into the mix. My issue with Last.fm is "tags". "Tags" is/are like "genre"? I never (and I mean NEVER) listen to music by "genre". Artist. album and song is all I care about. Sometimes I play by year or timeframe. Please feel free to make any recommendations or suggestions. I'm new to the social networking "world". Be patient with me. (I've been listening to Nick Drake and Jan Jelinek Avec The Exposures from your "favorite songs" playlist. I'm glad to see another person into ambient and experimental music. Look what I did! I used "genres". I give up!)
  6. I gave up on "scrobbling". I agree with you about not having having "tools" that interfere. I think it's cool that the Last.fm client can "scrobble" iTunes and iPods, but I don't want everyone to know what I'm listening to all the time. "I" don't even want to know about some of the stuff "I" have listened to. The Last.fm client was "uninstalled" very quickly.
  7. I know, it's horrible sound quality, but I have been enjoying Last.fm and Blip.fm. I have discovered lots of new music and people. We even sometimes discuss HiFi. Does anyone have Last.fm or Blip.fm accounts? What other websites let me share songs and playlists with people?
  8. You guys are going to be dangerous for me. I did not know there were people like me. I love music, but allows my "HiFi" side to take over sometimes. I have lived and worked with a lot of HiFi. I just got burned out years ago. I then discovered the DIY world, Altmann and Junji Kimura's work at 47 Labs, and I have enjoyed diving into my Apple Mac system. It's a much more enjoyable way to listen and discuss music. I have also become a fan of "Online Radio" sites. Last.fm and Blip.fm have been my "poison" recently. The quality is poor (extremely poor in some cases), but it's a lot of fun to engage with people about music. We sometimes play with themes and music association games. Does anyone else have Last.fm or Blip.fm profiles?
  9. I am in complete agreement. I am very thrilled with Apple. It always amazes me how "audiophiles" focus on being unhappy because they want something more. More, more, more. I choose quality over quantity. I want simplicity over complexity I don't want or need multiple hardware and software solutions. I don't want to argue and stress about formats. I just want to "Listen To Music". Apple has done more to help me "Listen To Music" than any other company. While I hope for features in the future, I am more than happy to watch what happens and support Apple as this new way of "Listening To Music" evolves. I have now posted on this site several times over the last few days. Do I need a support group or intervention? Hope you are all well....
  10. I am aware of how to add/remove columns, but since iTunes 8, the "genre" button is always there for "grid view". I never (and I mean NEVER) look up music by "genre", and if I were to, the way iTunes (and most other programs) categorize "genre" is a big mess. I wish they would just allow us to completely turn the "genre" option off, like Apple did before iTunes 8. I realize this is a issue for me, but I know a lot of other people who say they never use "genre" either. Please, "Just Say No" to genre! Now, back to the music....
  11. Eloise Great Ideas! Multiple formats and better networking would be wonderful. Especially syncing with a "Master Library". I agree that some of our requests are "petty" for Apple to deal with, but I also think some of these features are going to be in more demand as consumers want to share and access their music (content) in different ways. I also think that Microsoft's attempt to integrated DLNA into Windows 7 and Windows Media Player 12 will challenge Apple.
  12. Thanks for your reply. Yes, the Altmann is an excellent "product". It took awhile for me to get use to having a board on a piece of wood. I hide it in a drawer.
  13. I will support the cause, but I have a different priority list. 1. Lossless downloads in the iTunes Store, with a plan of offering 24/96 or higher in the future. 2. Native FLAC support. I don't use FLAC, but I would be more likely to, if Apple would support it. 3. Improve meta data and album art. Clean up the "artist" info and make sure album art is a good resolution. 4. Allow me to customize my view and let me REMOVE GENRE, if I want. Genre is the most useless bunch of information, and I have to look at it. 5. Allow automatic sample rate to switch between 16 and 24 bit. 6. Allow the AirPort Express to stream audio through it's USB output. 7. Allow me to have a NAS or Apple Time Capsule with ALL of my music, and then sync that music to a MacBook, like an iPod. This way I can have my music library at home, and take what I want with me when I'm traveling, without loading and reloading the music in the iTunes library on my MacBook. Over all, I have to say that Apple has done a fantastic job of building a great music hardware and software solution. Keep up the good work! Thank YOU!
  14. This post has been along time coming for me. I have been lurking around for years, and have learned a lot from the people here. So here it is.... I really like my Apple Mac and iPhone. I like the quality hardware and simple software. I like that it works. I like than I can automatically backup with Time Machine and Time Capsule. I like the AirPort Express. I like the Remote App. I have ripped all of my music to Apple Lossless. I have a main system that I connect directly to and other systems that I stream using the AirPort Express. I like the way Apple allows me to access my music and share it with other devices, and around the house. I am very, VERY happy with my Apple setup. I want to squeeze every bit of "musical information" out of my Apple system. Here is what I have found works best, but please feel free to make recommendations. I haven't listened to and tried everything. 1. MacBook Pro with a nice SSD drive. It sounds silly, but the SSD makes a huge difference. Not to mention how quick boot time and app launches are. 2. Van Den Hul polished glass optical cable to DAC. I've tried "coax" and "USB", but the optical output seems to sound a little better and more consistent. 3. Altmann DAC with a Optima Red Top power supply. Geeky, but that DAC sounds wonderful when battery powered. 4. Altmann AMP or 47 Labs Shigaraki amp. Both are sweet and gentle. 5. 47 Labs Lens speaker. Amazing! 6. 47 Labs OTA cable for interconnect and speaker cable. As you can see, I like a smaller (more intimate) sound. I have owned a lot of Linn and Naim gear in the past, but the Altmann and 47 Labs gear still amazes me with every listen. I'm open to something new, if I can improve. What other DACs with optical inputs should I consider? What about "chip amps" and single driver designs? Any suggestions? Thanks for your time....
