  1. Who's using the D150 as a preamp / DAC? is it solid for the price?
  2. I wonder how the C48 compares to the C47, I guess the C48 is just the older pre amp version, might be able to get a decent deal on that.
  3. You know that is a good idea... I guess I just figured Id try McIntosh, but for the price EMO is quite good.
  4. Im kinda of looking for something that would sound good with many different brands of speaker. I plan on buying a pre amp / amp that will last me a good time but I will probably be buying/ selling speaker on a yearly basis. I know I would get a better deal on used McIntosh gear but I would rather get new if I can but i'll keep my eyes open to see if i catch anything of interest. thanks I would consider a new pre amp and used AMP
  5. I don't have lots of experience with the stuff, But i do know I enjoy the McIntosh but i know you are paying a lot for the look. I have heard a system at a local store that sounded awesome it was 803D3 with (601) mono blocks and i think the C52 pre amp. I figure the C47 would be good way to entry the McIntosh world without really emptying out the bank account. Just wanted others opinions on it to see if I'm missing something because i don't have really that much experience with this.
  6. I always wanted Mcintosh but I'm kind of thinking of buying it but was just wondering if someone was going to chime in and say its trash and overprice = ]
  7. Yeah I only want 2 channel stereo, I have a HT room in a separate room.
  8. Yeah I was thinking of the MC152, I thought that would go nice with the C47 But i have an EMOTIVA XPA2 that i would use with the C47 or whatever I buy as a temporary or permanent solution depending on the sound of the two paired together; then later get a different AMP. A pre amp is my main focus right now. Source: Macbook
  9. I just got a used Legacy Audio Focus SE, eventually id like to own 800 Diamond D2: Room is 30'x18'; classical and rock, I heard the Mcintosh stuff but not the C47. I would like to know too if the C47 is a good buy or not. ( I know there is a lot of markup for the brand) I can't find much online.
  10. Just something thats going to be for 2 channel setup and will last for a very long time and bring good quality. My current AVR is going to be used in another system.
  11. Im driving my speakers with yamaha rx-a2040. I want a long, good upgrade so im willing to spend a lot I been trying to read on here. I have it narrowed down to mcintosh C47; Marantz seperates;ARCAM C49 with a P45; These are the main brands that carry at my local audio store. Im very open to any of those brands but consider other option.
  12. ok i got it figured out.. im able to switch between headphone jack and airplay... I do like the airplay... but when i watch something theres a slight delay between video and audio, they dont match up; im not sure theres a better quality via airplay though... im going to try the optical cable from Mac to the receiver and the thunderbolt/hdmi cable
  13. ok i have airplay setup... the problem with this rec. is i had to hook up my old monitor via HDMI so i could see the menu... other problem is i can't download the yamaha controller ap on my iMac but can on my iPhone, not sure why? also not sure i can tell a difference between the audio headphone jack to RCA on receiver.. and the receiver always try to connect via airplay now,, i can't switch back to the headphone jack.. the receiver always try to connect airplay now lots of concerns and questions thanx
  14. what do you think of a Sonos connect?
  15. i'll probably try to use the wireless airplay and also use a direct connections and use something like this 10ft 32AWG Mini DisplayPort to HDMI® w/Audio Cable - White - Monoprice.com
