  1. Anwar - thanks kindly for the reply. Have you any sage advice about saving the integrity of the grommets? Interesting they are using a Samsung Pro version in the MkII. Knowing Innuos was not offering an 8tb drive I was thinking the drive might have been and Samsung 870 Evo as the quality / performance difference in the Pro is not considered a good value by most accounts on the internet. interestingly I looked on the Innuos website today and I see there is a 8tb offering. The only Samsung I’m aware of with 8tb is the 870 QVO which is priced closer to the premium 4tb drives, and it’s longevity is not as long. Thanks for the feedback.
  2. Hello Everyone. I’m looking to find out if anyone has updated there Innuos servers hard drive. Questions for me: - is it a simple matter of removing the existing drive, cloning it and putting the newly cloned drive in as a replacement? - does anyone know what type of drive they use in the Zenith? I’m guessing its a Samsung SSD? - has anyone observed any customizations they do to enhance the performance, like vibration control modifications They seem to have a exorbitant pricing policy on the drives they sell and I can’t fathom what they could do that would justify there price. The other thing that to me is odd, there USB drive connection is designed to import files and do backups only. So an external USB drive for music storage is not officially supported. Any advice if greatly appreciated. Any of you have done this to the Innuos Zenith/Zen MkIii?
  3. Hello Heonius, Welcome to the forum. In this scenario I would suggest you follow the instruction and contact Innuos support. It might well be the Innuos servers we congested with too many downloads at the time. No matter what I would contact them. Cheers.
  4. BPED, same for me, Roon can’t find the Sqeezlight player after the update. I’ve gone through the steps posted above from the Innuos site a couple of times, even with a reboot and it doesn’t work.
  5. Ted - you were right it’s the Network Switch they released today called the PhoenixNet at $3500 usd.
  6. Chris - you’re not the first to praise the Melco. Similar pedigree the the modded Buffalo. I gather the Innuos is now out with the PhoenixNet at $3500 usd
  7. In the grand scream of things a higher priced case of a) better quality b) more room is universally advantageous. If one is shooting for great SQ, the price is secondary. Besides, the case is chump change compared to the rest of the BoM. (particularly the LPS’s) As an aside I heard a rumour that Innuos was going to release a audio grade Network Switch for around $3k. Not sure how valid that might be.
  8. I don’t know if it’s just a rumour, but Innuos could be ready to release a competitive audio grade network switch for about the price of a Phoenix. Anybody else heard something along these lines?
  9. I hope you have better luck than I did. The only thing I found was the the green “contact us” tab, filled it out and heard nothing back. Checked my spam folder, nothing there either. Go figure, they had a sales opportunity with me. I suspect they lost a few sales with that approach. To each there own I guess.
  10. Agreed, that is a great reason to rationalize going the DYI route!
  11. @Nenon What a fabulously informative and detailed post - thank you! Where you commented... “I am not sure what thought process triggered your question. But if you are wondering if someone else can build you a DIY server that sounds better than the Statement and costs less, I don't really know if that's easily achievable. I feel like you can only pick two items from the list below but not all 3: 1. Someone else to build it. 2. Cost is no more than the Statement. 3. Sounds better than the Statement. And lastly don't forget that a DIY server does not have a good resale value and you don't have support and warranty from a well-established company. Sorry for the long answer to what seemed like a simple question.” Reading the tread I suspected the builds were will north of 10k in parts. Where I’m coming from is this... I’ve been a strong proponent of Analog, yet my Esoteric spinner has been a good 2nd place. I have a Mac Mini and DAC and never liked the SQ, and it sat. Hearing the Digital has come a long way I borrowed an Aqua La Scala Optologic DAC and the Antipodes Cx / Ex. For the first time digital has pulled deeply into the music. This I can live with, the cost I can’t. I also thinK the digital will improve immensely and that products will depreciate considerably as a result. Therefore buying used appeals. I picked up a decent deal on a almost new Innuos Zen Mkiii and dipped my toes in the waters. It’s no where near the price points of the Antipodes I listened to. This along with my Ayre Codex are just ok, my Esoteric is vastly superior. Important context for me is, the intrinsic market value of the Esoteric is perhaps $1500 these days, and when I put the Innuos / Ayre combo up against it worth perhaps $2700, the Esoteric is better. The other part Is my financial priorities, I’m looking for a used Aqua DAC, that doesn’t leave me with Innuos Statement kind of money. After reading your wonderful tread, I though perhaps I can build something that might get close to the SQ of a Statement (or the Antipodes) for 30% of the cost. By the sounds of it, it will be well higher than that!
  12. Nenon - You mentioned shooting higher than an Innuos Statement, so this unit would sound better? Curiously if you were to produce another, what would one of these cost?
  13. “ Done that. The Zenith would sound much better. ” Nenon - What about if you have a Zen Mkiii (not mini) if you added an ultra Rendu and the signature LPS would: 1) adding the the ultra Rendu improve the sound, 2) would that get you close to the Zenith with no Rendu?
  14. Thanks for the reply. The DAC is the current 1LE, which has DSD and Femto. The Pics... Thanks for any help!
  15. New to computer audio, and my first post. Please forgive me as I've looked high and low around the Net and can't find any document that describes the Foobar configurations for a Wyred 4 Sound 1LE DAC. I called W4S and they weren't able to help, the only thing they have documented is the JRiver setup. I did go through the Manufacturers setup process along with looking at MyTek and Exasounds Foobar instructions and did my best to configure it. The W4S DAC does play all file types, however, Foobar seems to be converting some of the files. When I play: Redbook - it show 44K1 (as it should) 24/96 - it shows 192K (up sampling) DSF - it shows 44K1 (down sampling) When I feed the DAC from a transport, Redbook it indicates 44K1, and 24/96 file it displays 96 as it should. That's why I'm convinced it's Foobar setting causing the issue. Any suggestion on what to look for? Many thanks for any pointers you folks can provide!
