  1. I should have elaborated a bit more. Is the scenario posed above where each loudspeaker is corrected individually using DSP unique to that scenario? Wouldn't the same result be possible using a non-DSP based speaker? if it is unique to that sceanrio can it be mitigated somehow?
  2. I would think that this same potential problem exists with a passive speaker as well?
  3. Price reduced to 2375. This will include shipping inside US. PP fees will need to be covered by the buyer.
  4. I have used this DAC for a while being fed by a Mac Mini via Jriver up sampling all formats to DSD and double rate DSD with great results. If someone is looking to get into a Lampi as well as DSD then this is a great buy. A beautiful music making machine. Go to the Lampizator site at the link below and read the write ups. Took a bit of risk with the Jupiter Copper Foil caps as they were just released before my build. The designer had great comments on these besting the Duelands during testing after my build. This will come with some additional tubes. The rectifier tube has been replaced with a military 6X5WGT and a very nice 7DJ8 output tube both sourced from Brent Jessee. The stock tubes as well as some others will come along with for some tube rolling fun. Stock output tubes are ECC40 and E88CC variants. Unit has not seen nearly enough usage over the last months. The DAC is in immaculate condition and original packaging will be used. Price: $2700 shipped in CONUS. PP fees are responsibility of buyer if they so choose. I paid over $3500 new with another $200+ of tubes included. http://www.lampizator.eu/NEWDAC/Lampizator/DSD_DAC.html
  5. I would consider near field but be aware of early reflections. If you can suspend or elevate the speakers to get them away from early reflections this will help in keeping the direct sound as clean as possible. The whole point of near field is to get the room out of the way which is usually a good idea in most normal situations.
  6. If you want the capability of dynamic, undistorted sound then I would look at Geddes or Danley offerings. They can crush you if needed but can be very delicate and audiophile all the time.
  7. This will be an unpopular recommendation but I would consider the Behringer 2031a Truth loudspeakers. These are active so the only thing needed is a signal input. They measure very well, outstanding for the amount of money. For or a room as small as yours having good pattern control by use of waveguide or horn will be highly beneficial in minimizing room interaction.
  8. I have mine plugged into a PI Audio Group Digibuss. The Digibuss is something that Dave built me which is a bit of a minibus hybrid. Two outlets have different filtration versus the norm. Dave thought that would be best for certain digital as well as class d amps. This is plugged into my über buss of course. it seems to help.
  9. I was in a similar situation a few months ago. I pulled the trigger on a synology 214se as I wanted a newer unit for the newer software releases. I was worried about processing speed and the like but all has worked out well so far. Hook it up, visit their site and all is pretty smooth sailing from there if you are familiar with computers at all. I don't regret my decision in going with a lessor unit to this point as my main purpose is streaming audio.
  10. I am using an AirPort Extreme without issue. Although documentation should have been identified and changed accordingly it is unrealistic for the company to make good on any errant purchase in the scenario.
