Hello...
I'll be taking delivery of a NAD M50 soon as my first step away from being entirely dependent on CDs as a music source. I already have the NAD M51 and am very pleased with its performance. I'm steadily adding to my library of CDs and it's getting a bit unwieldy...
I've read lots of threads here about various ways to store music digitally and I confess I'm baffled. Apart from data security, is there any reason to choose a RAID system (as in NAS) over a simple USB external HDD for the M50 to read and write to? It seems that NAS cause lots of people all sorts of problems - I'm not very computer literate and don't have the time to invest in learning about a whole new set up, although I do have a very simple home network to connect various PCs to printers and the internet.
But should I really perservere with going for an NAS? What are the simple pros and cons?
If you have the time to write a simple explanation or point me to some sources that will help, I'd be grateful.
