Chris, NAS would most likely still be required...right?

Please excuse my ignorance. I have a Geek Pulse DAC about to be shipped. I am intrigued with the CAPS Cortes server idea. It would be located in my basement one floor down and on the other side of a basement wall. I don't want to cut any more holes in the rug so a powerline ethernet would be convenient. I realize this is not the audiophile perfect solution but would be really convenient for the time being. How does one make the connection between the ethernet and the USB input in the DAC. Is there something efficient and elegant without going to another small PC before the DAC thanks much

I have not been able to get my AVR600 to recognize FLAC files when a flash drive is inserted in the back panel USB slot. The users guide in useless in this area. Anyone have any ideas? thanks

I'm new to computer audio and have a newly acquired previously owned ARCAM AVR600. I'm trying to figure out the best way to play hi res FLAC files. Anyone have any experience with this receiver?

I would like to stream high res files wirelessly to my newly acquired Arcam AVR600. The specs say the DAC will accommodate up to 192/24 files. Can anyone provide guidance regarding hooking up Airport Extreme via the optical input to the AVR600? Is this a good solution?

I assume the standard issue USB cable should also be upgraded between a PC and an outboard drive like a Freeagent Go?

Thanks Chris, I was under the impression, probably mistakenly, that clock/jitter was a much bigger issue with a USB connection than with a dedicated sound card. Typically, can older cards like several year old Creative Soundblaster cards, be configured to bypass the internal D to A conversion to pass a FLAC file to an external DAC?

I have music in FLAC on a big flash drive that I run through my business laptop to a DECCO amp ( with USB in ) then to my forty year old college speakers....ALTEC Voice of the Theater. Could you say few words about USB to DAC vs sound card to DAC. Ignoring clocks/jitter for the moment, I'm trying to understand the benefits of using the sound card. You are obviously bi-passing the D to A in the sound card. The sound card appears to pass much higher sampling rates than USB will currently allow. What else am I missing? Thanks
