  1. Sorry but swedish is my native language. In swedish it's called "schizofreni" and I simply mixed the languages together a bit. Perhaps you can check my other 18 posts for spelling and grammar misstakes and send me some feedback?
  2. I'm a nurse, specialized in mental illnes. I work at a subspecialized outpatient reception, where I meet patients with schizofrenia and psychosis. Am I the only nurse in this forum?
  3. Yes. Its's called varible bit-rate or just VBR. Most modern compression formats works that way, no matter if it's lossy or lossless.
  4. Aries support both dff and dsf, but your server software also need to support this to get it to work. I'm using minimservminimserver and it plays this formats flawless.
  5. That’s, normal. Losing sync when playing PCM results in dropouts. Losing sync when playing DSD results in noise. If you are using the “experimental” clock settings such as exact or fine and don´t provide the Vega with a digital signal accurate enough, the Vega will lose sync. Losing sync when playing DSD results in the noise you described, because the dac uses the DoP-protocol, and when losing bits it will no longer recognize the data as DSD, the dac will handle the signal as PCM instead.
  6. Yes. I really like the “BubbleDS Next”, it has great functionality and great “widgets”. It gives me the opportunity to download files from my music library directly to the music directory on my phone, which makes my phone a more flexible portable player. The UI in BubbleDS next looks much like the ones I´m used to from the squeezebox era, but the functionality is even better in Bubble. As far as I now Kazoo hasn’t any android app, but I tried it on my iPad, it was pretty similar to the Kinsky app, just a little bit more modern graphic layout. The stability of my Aries has been pretty good since I removed my first gen iPad mini from my network. I Hope it stays that way! =)
  7. I blame both AUALic and my dealer. Because Auralic hasn’t provided my dealer with accurate information about what iPad to choose. I haven’t seen AURALiC recommending any particular model, when they know that some models can cause problems, they should be transparent about that. I still haven’t seen any official recommendation of what model to choose or not to choose from AURALiC.
  8. Finally the Android app is here (v1.0)! Follow link to download apk: http://t.co/26l3ezAjfy (From Auaralic official twitter page) =)
  9. Okay. I don´t know, but I trust you. :-) What I know for sure is that I had problems, and I blame Auralic for this because they told me that it is a known issue. If they are aware of the issue they should be more specific in what iPad they recommend. That’s my opinion. As I said, I asked my Auralic dealer for advice, before I bought the iPad. They told me that any iPad should be fine with the Aries. When I contact the Auralic support like 4 months later, they tells me that the problem is my first gen iPad mini, I´m not satisfied. I bought a brand new iPad mini and sold it 4 months later, that´s not a good deal.
  10. I´m using different Android units like Sony Xperia Z1 compact, Sony Xperia tablet Z3 compact, Google nexus 7, LG G3 and the Linn Kinsky app to control the Aries. It works ok. I´ve unsubscribed my Tidal account cause Kinsky can´t control the Aries via the Kinsy app. I like the folder view in Kinsky much better than the crippled Lightning DS folder view.
  11. It sounds more like their blaming Apple for using bad wifi-modules in this specific iPad models. It might be possible to compensate for poor hardware quality in the software. But personally I would recommend buying an iPad with better wifi-card just to be sure…
  12. I had some sporadic network issues with “no device” shown in the lightning ds app. I contacted Auralic and Chris Morris explained to me that: “Its something that we have ran into with the iPad2's and 1st Gen iPad Mini's. Their WiFi cards are the strongest inside and while they work just fine for internet. UPnP streamers use different network protocols that can have problems that wouldn't occur when lets say your watching youtube. You have the rest of your network sorted it looks like so the things are starting to point to the iPad. The reason why the Aries keeps on playing is because its got a good connection to the network. Also when you load a playlist that actually gets sent to theAries and so it has instructions and the information to play out the playlist on its own. Do you have a different/newer iPad in the house to try. The fact that the Aries is on the network and LDS says"no device" means its the connection through the router from the iPad to theAries is the problem. We already know the Aries is connected and the router is a good model so we can only assume its points to the iPad. But the only real way to tell is to test the theory out.”… The answer made me kind of mad because I bought the iPad exclusively just to control my Aries and nothing else. I did ask my Aurlic dealer for advice before I bought it, and I was told to get an iPad, and that just any model should work fine. I´ve now sold my iPad mini because of this. I think Auralic should be more clear about what models of iPad they recommend, if they tell their customer that it´s an known issue…
  13. The same has happened to me multiple times. Like other proposes I advise you to try another wifi-channel. Once none of the European channels was working for me, and I had to change “region” to China in the router to get access to channels “not allowed” in my region. If you get it work you are free to change back to channel 36 again if that’s your favorite. (I have no neighbors or other equipment jamming the signal, and excellent signal-strength. My router is placed like 3-4 meters from the Aries, I’m using the, by Auralic recommended Netgear R6300 router. I don´t know if it´s a compatibility, software or bad hardware -issue. Auralic hasn’t left me any good answers…)
  14. Thank you for your explanation One and a half! Ok, so the unit is good stuff, but not as good as a power re-generator? But maybe it will not solve the problem with the Vega dropouts in exact clock-mode after all. If the PS Audio P10 regenerator didn’t solve the problem… Maybe it isn´t possible to get it to work 100% without drop-outs in exact mode, due to the sensitive high clock-frequency usb bus-speed then … ?
