  1. Leave em both on, the clocks need thermal stability...
  2. Yea, I started a separate thread on head-fi as well, and it has been very active...I would presume the same players might post here as well, but it’s been like a ghost town on this site. Would have figured at least a few peeps.
  3. Has anyone purchased or heard the new Audio-GD DI-20? As one who has tried a number of “usb digital interfaces”Mutec MC3+USB, Kitsune’ tuned Singxter SU1, and currently Gustard U-16...this Audio-GD looks like beast, especially the DI-20 HE with the upgraded PS.check it out: http://www.audio-gd.com/R2R/DI20/DI20EN.htm
  4. Thank You Elan120. Can you clarify "highly undesired"? Undesired sonically or detrimental to the electronics? Thanks. Along those lines, short of me going back and re-reading this entire thread, are there any cost effective 50 ohm cables that can be highly recommend ? My 75 ohm purchased cables were based on my use of the REF-10 with MC3+USB, which I have removed at this time.
  5. I have acquired a device that has a 50 ohm clock input, but I only have 75 ohm cables (3 different) can a 75 ohm cable be used from the 50 ohm connections on the Ref-10 and the other device without sacrificing sonic benefits? Thanks
  6. I am selling my Kitsune Tuned Edition SU-1. Mint, 6 months old. PM for details. Happy Holidays Tim
  7. Regarding Firmware updates to The U16, is this a Windows only operation? I have a Mac with no Windows emulation...Am I SOL? Tim
  8. 1. Ouch! From a customer that was told otherwise by Tim at Kitsune, especially after this customer spent the big $$ on the “tuned” version. 2. I wonder if Tim at Kitsune would agree with this statement? 3. Also wonder how the new Singxer SU6 will stack up against the Gustard U16?
  9. Has anyone here been able to compare the Gustard U16 to a highly modified Singxter S1, such as the Kitsune Tuned version?
  10. mrkoven; I also had an original Aries Femto. I used the Curious cables USB, an Intona industrial galvanic isolation, Wyred4sound Recovery, and an Uptone Audio JS2 LPS, into a PS Audio Directstrewam DAC. The stock Aries was good, but the Curious, Intona, W4S Recovery and JS2 took the sonics to another level. After sending my Aries Femto in for repair/replacement twice, and reading that the unit was discontinued and no longer supported, and that the future firmware that would enable room correction would not be compatible with the older Aries, I started thinking about replacing it. I really liked the Lightning DS, and overall, the sonics of my hot-rodded Aries, so I read EVERYTHING I could about both the G1 and G2. I knew that I would not trade my Directstream dac for any other dac, let alone the Vega ( PS Audio and designer Ted Smith continues to release new FPGA firmware upgrades for their dacs, for FREE! and without a doubt, each new firmware brings an incredible sonic upgrade), so the proprietary "Lightning" HDMI I/O was NOT a selling point for me. The upgraded footers on the G2 could be replicated with aftermarket footers on a G1, so that pretty much leaves the "unity chassis" and Galvanic Isolation for both USB/digital outs as being the only reason for me to choose the G2 over the G1. So, between the Auralic USA offering an unadvertised trade in value on a Aries Femto towards a G2 of $1200.00 USD, AND the fact that I could sell my Intona and JS2 PSU on the used market and re-coup some extra money...I pulled the trigger on the G2! It arrived this week. Ice Cold out of the box, (literally as the UPS driver had it in his truck all day and it was in the high 20's the day of delivery) the G2 trumped my old Aries by a substantial margin in detail and soundstage. I have since learned that the unit will benefit from 100-200 hours of break-in, and I have been playing it on repeat for the last few days. At the end of the day, and according to more than one review, the sonic differences between the G1 and the G2 vs. the financial differences may be a considerable issue. For me, I justified the G2 purchase with the above noted criteria. At this stage in my life, I will try to choose "no regrets", when at all possible. So far, I have no regrets in my decision of buying the G2. But as always...YMMV! Tim
  11. Matt; Can you post a link to this statement? Thanks
  12. I am considering selling my Mutec "Dynamic Duo": Ref-10 and MC3+USB, mint, black, all factory items and boxes. Please PM if interested. Tim
