  1. Here are the current Kernel Versions: Kernel Version: Linux urendu-013A8E 6.0.18-200.sgc.fc36.armv7hl #1 SMP Wed Jan 25 17:44:48 EST 2023 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux Kernel Version: Linux mrendu-00ECBD 6.0.18-200.sgc.fc36.armv7hl #1 SMP Wed Jan 25 17:44:48 EST 2023 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux A few days ago I ran the Update via Software Manager, which I have never done before, and since then I have experienced no issues. I have screenshots of the Update/Upgrade readouts should they be helpful.
  2. I have been using v2.9 for a few months with Squeezelite only. I have an uR in my main system feeding a Chord Hugo TT2 and a mR in my study feeding an original Hugo. About a month ago I would occassionally need to restart Squeezelite on the uR to get going. This is very quick and straightforward and gets things up and running again. Prior to restart I would check that the DAC is being seen and this is indeed the case - so just a Squeezelite restart required. It is weird because the need to do this is very random (maybe every couple of days), but always only at the beginning of a listening session. I have not experienced stoppages during playback. The other day I had the same issue with the mR for the first time and it has happened again just now. The remedy is the same - a restart of Squeezelite is all that is required. I never had this issue with v2.8. This is not nearly as enervating or serious as some of the other issues being discussed here, but it is becoming more of a niggle of daily playback, so would like to see if it can be addresssed or if others using v2.9 and Squeezelite have a similar experience. Thanks Sam
  3. I have a microRendu running v 2.8 and an ultraRendu running v 2.7. Can I upgrade the ultra to v 2.9 directly from v 2.7? Happy Days with My Rendus I have been running LMS on a Home Server for many years initially using a combination SB Touches and Radios around the house. In 2016 I purchased a microRendu to replace the Touch in my main system. The improved sound quality was immediately apparent especially when the Rendu was powered by an Uptone LPS 1. Upgrading to an ultraRendu a couple of years later brought another jump in audio satisfaction and seamless integration. It is currently powered by an Uptone LPS 1.2. The microRendu happily sits in my study system. I love the small form factor of the Rendus, reliability and solid customer support, sound quality and perhaps the greatest benefit of all the seamless integration with my Squeezebox environment. Thanks for a great suite of products.
  4. Martin at VortexBox UK has been busy!! I posted my mR for the 1.4 upgrade Tuesday morning and it was waiting for me when I got home from work on Thursday. Great service. I only managed to listen for a little while late last night as we had guests earlier. So it had been plugged in and warmed up for a few hours prior to set-up and listening. Initial impressions were, "well it certainly doesn't sound cold, and certainly no worse than before". I only spent about 1/2 hour as it was late, but it was difficult to tear myself away (always a good sign). I definitely liked what I was hearing. I sensed a bit more clarity without it ever sounding clinical, with fast drum and bass notes in particular more distinct and thus easier to follow in the mix and an overall feeling of a more solid foundation. Looking forward to running it through its paces at the weekend. Thank you Sonore for making this upgrade available.
  5. Maybe - but all subjective, and the permutations some of the good people here put their systems through makes my head spin. Much easier, as was the case with the original microRendu, if we just knew !!
  6. It would be very helpful if some light could be shed on the improved USB regenerative improvements or 'regen'. With the original microRendu it was known that the regen implementation was superior (even if slightly) to that which was employed in the original Uptone Regen. Not sure where I read this but it is probably somewhere on this forum. So now we have a new regen circuit in both the ultraRendu and new microRendu board. Are they on par with the new IsoRegen from Uptone? Or not quite? Or better again (unlikely)? Also how does the regen implementation compare between the ultra and new microRendu board? Are they the same? Apologies if this has already been answered and I missed it. Thanks Sam
  7. Maybe incorporating the new ISO Regen?? Would seem a natural progression.
  8. Speaking of mR v2 are there any plans to update the mR to incorporate the ISO Regen just announced by Uptone, given the current mR has an original (slightly improved, I think I read somewhere) Regen equivalent?
  9. Sounds like the simple solution is to just leave everything turned on. Alot of people, myself included, leave amps on 24/7. Some manufacturers, like Naim, recommend it. And we know the mR likes it too.
  10. Ronnie - Thanks very much for the Joggler suggestion and the link. Larger screen sounds perfect (and still tells time, ha!). Regards Sam
  11. Thanks John - Yes, this is my aim and the beauty of the Touch. The ability to get playing without having to get a phone/tablet/laptop out and connected. Just 'touch' it - very aptly named. Kinda like popping in a CD and pressing play in the old days! Although a small tablet as firedog suggests may be worth investigation. Do they tell the time when off??? (not a serious question) mR and LPS-1 have been ordered
  12. Hi - I am thinking of finally trying a microRendu in my main system especially with the introduction of the new LPS-1, but I have a question related to the above post. I currently run a Squeeze environment throughout the house with various SBTs and radios. The microRendu would go in the main system and I would still like to occasionally control it from the touch screen of my SBT. Can anyone explain how to make this work. One of the great draws to me of the SBT is the display of album art and ability to manually interact with the unit. I would like to keep that if possible. many thanks Sam
  13. Thanks - Thought that would be the case, as others experiencing good results must also be using galvanically isolated DACs.
