  1. I am not the expert here on this issue, but just looking at what you typed, it does not look to me like the sample in the preceding post. Maybe it's just the font, or maybe there's some sort of auto-correction that's adding spaces. But, I copied the command line from your post, pasted it into a text editor and changed the font to Courier (a mono-space font) so I could more easily see where the spaces are. From what I saw: (1) you have the dash after the lower case "i" instead of before it; (2) assuming you accidentally reversed those two, there would still be a space between the dash and "i" that doesn't belong there; 3) there is also a space between the dash and the letter "P" that should not be there; and 4) likewise, there is an incorrect space between the dash and the letter "I" Yours is on top; the one posted by pabe12 is on the bottom (with your IP address inserted). .\sacd_extract i - 192.168.0.17:2002 - P - I .\sacd_extract -i 192.168.0.17:2002 -P -I I hope I'm not off the mark on this--if so I apologize--but that is what I noticed.
  2. I'm having problems with stuttering and dropouts when playing DSD 128 files with the microRendu, and am hoping someone might have some suggestions. DSD 64 files are playing fine. I'm using JRiver Media Center 22 on a CAPS 4 Pipeline server (with internal storage). The microRendu is feeding a PS Audio DirectStream DAC (which can handle DSD 128 format). If it matters, the mR is powered by a Vinnie Rossi Mini Pure-DC-4EVR power supply. Thanks, Jim
  3. OK - maybe it was the Christmas spirit, but the microRendu seems to be working now. All's well for now. Happy Holidays to one and all.
  4. I've tried searching for an answer to what is probably a simple issue, but I'm just not seeing it. I'm running JRiver M. C. 22 on a CAPS server. That computer is connected to a FIOS router, as is the microRendu. I can see the rendu as a playing zone in JRiver, but I cannot get any sound. I tried to add the rendu as a DNLA server in the Options/Media Network/Add or configure DNLA servers tab, but the rendu does not show up. I have configured the rendu as a DNLA server on the website. I have rebooted both the rendu and the computer. I'm probably missing something simple, as I am not a network expert, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Jim
  5. I'm posting my experience after updating the firmware on my Oppo 105 in case it proves helpful to anyone. After the firmware update ISO2DSD failed to open two different SACDs for ripping. I had a moment of dread even though others have posted that the update did not disable ripping capability. Turns out that the IP Address had changed in the process of upgrading. I entered the new address and all is well.
  6. Never mind -- I see now that I've tried playing from ISO with JRiver that both 2 channel and multi-channel tracks are listed. So, I guess it doesn't matter which setting it's on when ripping to Raw ISO. But, if I'm missing something, please set me straight.
  7. I might have missed this information in reading through this thread--if so, I apologize. My question is this: in Sonore ISO2DVD when I select "Server Input" and Raw ISO, there is also an option under Channel Mode for either "Dual" or "Multi." I'm only using a stereo setup right now, but while I'm ripping I'd like to preserve the multi-channel mix as well. Do I need to rip twice, once in each channel mode? I know this is probably a basic question, but I don't know much about ISOs. I just tried my first SACD rip using an Oppo 105 and it worked like a charm. Very excited about this. Thanks.
  8. I'm loving this album. Jazz trio: female singer, double bass, and trumpet--beautifully recorded. Unless you absolutely hate that kind of thing, you should check this out. The DSD download is available at Native DSD, with 10% off for another week or so.
  9. I bought a copy based on your review, and have to say I agree with you. Excellent performances by all concerned, and wonderful music.
  10. I finally was able rebuild my server with the replacement mother board and everything is now up and running. For the benefit of others who don't do this every day, let me share my theory of what went wrong. The instructions for the case point out two places for additional stand-offs. I put stand-offs in both places, without making sure the board required them. In fact it needed only one of them. Thus, when I installed the board there was an extra stand-off underneath it. While I can't be certain, there is a good chance that it may have shorted out the board. Probably not a mistake a more experienced person would make, but there you have it. It may also have been a bad board (I tried the first board again without the extraneous stand-off and it still wouldn't power up) but I suspect the former. Anyway, I hope this is useful for other aspiring builders. Now I need to set up JRiver, the remote app, etc. If anyone has pointers on this part of the process, please chime in. Despite setbacks, I'm having a lot of fun with this project and can't wait to hear the end result.
  11. I spent some time on the phone with Supermicro tech support but could not figure it out. I exchanged the motherboard but haven't been able to rebuild it yet. Unfortunately when I returned the board I forgot to remove the cpu cooler mounting nuts from the underside. So I'm waiting for replacements. I have my fingers crossed but the fact that you are having the same issue is not encouraging. I will post as soon as I get it back together to let you know happens.
  12. I tried substituting a different psu (also new) but there was no change in behavior at all. I'm wondering if it could be a bad motherboard, but I don't really have any idea. Adam, did you ever find anything about that red glowing LED in the right rear corner?
  13. It seems I'm having a problem similar to Adam's. I put the Pipeline server together and tried to power up this evening. In the back left corner I get a red glowing LED and to the right of it a blinking green LED (as he showed in his pic). The board power LED is also lit (green). I didn't seen anything in the manual about the red LED in the corner. Also, pushing the power switch does nothing whatsoever. There is also no power switch LED. Just to experiment, I switched the polarity of the power LED lead. The LED then glowed blue, changing the power lead polarity did nothing, so I returned both to what should be the correct polarities. For fun, I plugged a fan into FanA; it would not turn on. I'm using a brand new HDPlex linear power supply feeding the HDPlex 250W Internal DC-ATX PSU (19W). Adam said that changing to a different power supply solved his problem. Is it likely that a brand new PSU would be the problem here? Could it be the power switch on the case? I don't have testing equipment, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
  14. This is fantastic. Thank you very much for giving your time to do this. I suspect a lot of folks are going to find it helpful. Something like this should be posted right alongside the CAPS server build articles so it can easily be found. Thanks again.
  15. Adam, Any tips or advice on the build or setup would be greatly appreciated. I'm just getting ready to start and, similar to you, I've built PCs but never a fanless case or set up a system as a music server. I'm going to use the HDPlex linear PSU recommended by Chris, so some detail on the best way to connect that would also be useful to this music server tyro. Thanks. Jim
