  1. Can someone point me to where this new information from Auralic regarding MQA was published? This was one reason I purchased my Altair late last year and if so I need to understand their position directly. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  2. Excellent! I'll apply and see what happens! Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  3. What is and how does one get Test Flight? My Altair is on 4.1, no MQA decoding. Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  4. Have you looked in the JRiver wiki and still not figured it out? It should be pretty straightforward, but if you don't get a quick response here I can send you some screen shots later today. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  5. Wow. I leave the thread for a couple of days and come back to such subjective negativity. Dan certainly doesn't need my defense, but because I hold him in such high regard based on our interactions on another forum, I have to say that this attack is unwarranted. One only has to read one of Dan's product reviews to grasp his honesty, integrity, and most of all, musical knowledge. Enough said. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  6. I haven't experienced this myself, but I'll pay closer attention and report back. Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  7. Hey Dan! Nice to see you out and about. I love reading the suggestions (well-meaning) of how to improve your studio. For those of us that know you, it's kind of cute. [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  8. According to Auralic and others this is not the equivalent of an Aries and Vega combined. Functionality-wise perhaps, but one notch down in SQ. Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  9. I would also prefer wired, but the implementation of wireless on the Auralic is rock-solid. It handles every level of resolution with ease. There is no compromise here. Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  10. Looks like a decent product, but falls well short of the Altair's DSD over wifi capability. Otherwise, very nice! Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  11. Sorry I wasn't clear about that. I run Roon on a Windows 10 machine on my network. NAS just holds the music files. You will be fine! Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  12. I'm using the Altair as my bedroom source, feeding a Sennheiser HDVA 600 headphone amplifier via XLR. Listening through Sennheiser HD 800 headphones. While Auralic would tell you to use their proprietary DS Lightning Server, I'm a big fan of Roon and I'm very impressed with the Roon/Altair combo. Altair is receiving files wirelessly from my Synology NAS. To me it sounds as stable as a wired connection. Plays FLAC and DSD, or anything else I've thrown at it so far. I would have no hesitation recommending Altair to someone using Roon. They got it right! Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  13. Cookie does a great job and I'm a big fan. Such a rare format still. Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  14. And now you are going to tell us that DOP sounds different than native DSD? And that you are finding titles mastered in 4xDSD? Credibility is sinking fast. So is this thread. Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  15. What professionals? I believe you are living in a made up audiophile world with only one inhabitant. I love DSD, and my Esoteric K-03X is no slouch as a DAC, but it's 80% engineering and 20% format. I have about 1100 albums on my NAS and maybe 200 of those are DSD. Quality varies by recording and I can't honestly say that the best SACD recording is any better than the best PCM recording. Perhaps your system is more resolving. In addition to the Esoteric front end I'm running a McIntosh C2500 preamp to a Bryston 14bsst2 amp into my Revel Salon 2's. Software is Roon. Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
