  1. Just a plug for a very useful reference if you find need to tweak disabled services. Black Viper’s Windows 8.1 Service Configurations » Black Viper | www.blackviper.com Scroll to bottom and Viper lists which services are "Safe" to disable and if you click on Service name there's a page listing dependencies which might be impacted by disabling a particular service. And if you are looking for a free way to optimize a non-dedicated system you might also want to look at: Razer Cortex: Game Booster It allows you to specify background apps & services to disable during "Boost" - it's not audio optimized or as extensive as Scott's script certainly but all changes also revert when boost is disabled so for example you can disable printing, defrag, error reporting etc. temporarily - again, nice if you have a PC not dedicated solely to audio.
