  1. I apologize in advance if this has been covered somewhere else in this thread... Does anyone have a rundown on the differences between the ACS-10 and ACS-100? Thanks
  2. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you with very little info. Mytek takes the position that it will vary from setup to setup whether the network input bests USB. I think your degree of network isolation etc will also be important. I would expect it to sound at least as good as USB. I suggest you give them a call to discuss or see if someone might send you a network card on a trial basis to purchase if you like it. I have a Manhattan II and while I think it is superlative DAC, I'm not sure that the network input is designed to the same standard as the rest of the DAC.
  3. I am anticipating purchasing one of the switches when it is finished. Are there any commercially available routers that you recommend to go with it?
  4. I apologize for stating that no remote was included. I thought I read this somewhere else in this thread but stand corrected.
  5. I agree that the price is disappointing, especially seeing that the same DAC with world class analog linestage is only appx. $5000 more...plus it doesn't even include a remote. I was originally hoping for something that would hit around the $7500 mark, then heard $10K and now we've surpassed that. No doubt all these products do have real cost in parts/R&D etc, but at some point I believe they are merely priced with a pen in order to appear legitimate in the marketplace.
  6. Seems this is not the case. Also, you still have to delete all files from the N10 unless you want your albums to appear twice in the conductor app.
  7. Do I understand correctly that the display shows volume attenuation level?
  8. A few comments and answers to questions in regards to the ACS-10 / N10 interface. I have used both. When used together, the N10 just becomes the player....ACS10 sends the files over ethernet to the N10 SSD for playback. The storage drives in the N10 become superfluous. Unless the most recent software update corrected this, you have to delete all files on the N10, or all of your albums will show up twice in the conductor app. ACS-10 only displays cover art when ripping, not during playback. Newly ripped files are only stored on the ACS10 and not sent to the N10....if you want them on the N10 you have to drag and drop via computer. Both units function well, and I think a few small issues will be addressed with future software updates. Hopefully Aurender will provide more information to prospective buyers as to how the two units function in tandem, as information available on their website is a bit murky at this point.
  9. As a superfan of Argerich, I was stunned to find a recent solo performance of Ravel's Gaspard de la nuit on this disc. Martha has given next to zero recitals in many, many years and this one is very special. Give it a listen...outstanding in every aspect. I wasn't that interested in the program on the rest of the album but it is more than worth it for Gaspard. Also available in MQA on Tidal.
  10. Outstanding performance and very good sonics.
  11. Musicophile beat me to it.....I'll second the recommendation for Leif Ove.
  12. This is all very disappointing and I think has badly hurt the sales of the Aries G2. You're obviously not the only one....there are a number of similar threads on the Auralic support forum. They need to fix the problem and provide some press information or I'm afraid this very fine piece of gear is doomed to fail. In my overly simplistic view, the problem is that we have audio engineers building what is essentially a computer, rather than working with a computer engineer. There is no spec/standard for things in the audio world and when USB specs etc are ignored it creates some serious compatibility issues when connecting to other USB and network devices. I have just experienced something similar between another well known, very high end server and a very good dac.
  13. I run direct into a 625 S2 from a Mytek Manhattan II with great results. I have recently tried a couple different very high end pre-amps and the improvement over direct is very, very small. FWIW, Jeff Rowland goes direct from his Aeris in his listening room.
  14. Ditto. Pretty concerning. I understand via the Auralic help page/forum there are some issues with USB communication to the Aires G2 which remain unresolved. Either a lack of communication or ticks and pops in the audio signal.....
