1. Hi(Fi) If you don't mind of my following your post? I have the same question. Can any of you suggest a pre-amp for v-moda m100 headphone? (kind of like ttps://www.schiit.com/products/vali-1 by the picture. I have no way to test it now.) Also, do I need to get Schiit's DAC too? Also, I happen to like a very little set of tube pre-amp (tubes 6J4, I think it's made in China) handling the output from my MacBOok pro and iPad (exchangeable) with my 33 years old bookshelf Bose speakers (with its own built in amplifier). I can't believe how good the sound comes out! I can even tell the drummer and singer's position! Is it because the Tube preamp suits the speakers or the speakers are good. For a little room 12x12, that is a pure surprise to me.
2. Got it. I am very interested to do this. Anything easy and quick is what I'm after. Thanks.
3. it was wma 24 bit. (I don't know how to verify this but I was told it is). I tried to catch and click the LOG, unfortunately, nothing happened. I am sure there must be something I didn't set up correctly. I have copied the log on the screen and will send it to you. Hope that helps. Sorry I am busy most of the time and that is why I am a 2 seconds-'huh' user. If a product is beyond my ability, I normally pass. Doing QA is just part of my curiosity, but I honestly have no experience or expertise to do that. good luck!
4. Sorry that I didn't notice that you were the developer/programmer. My bad. I tried again. Following is my report. Hope it helps. Please note that I am really a novice user. I don't know how to use most of the software/app because I am easily scared away by 2+ seconds 'huh?' moments. Therefore, it is usually me, not the program that is the problem. input: wav file output: AIFF, 16 bit, 44100 Hz I thought I did something wrong after I saw this message. Some error messages in the dialog but I don't understand the reason. Then, I tried on other wav file. This time there is no error message but the '0%' stays there. While I was wondering what happened, I happened to notice a window is buried underneath. That window can't be moved around (, which is strange). In that window, I assume that the FREE version will give me a silence section if the song is longer than 3 min...etc. After I choose 'close' the entire program disappeared. (crashed?) I did not see any files being converted as the result. I know something was wrong, but I had no clue. Lite... Thanks.
5. Thanks a lot for directing me. I tried... not sure if I will dive in ... it's more complicated than I thought. For now, I will use http://www.online-convert.com since I am only converting less than 30 files. For my CDs, I will stay with dBpoweramp I think. Maybe it is low end users learning pain..
6. This might be an off topic question - kindergarten level. Most of the threads talked about ripping CDs. Can someone share his expertise on how to convert WMA files (24-bit) to iPod model A1238 (2007) in the MAC world? I tried XLD but it won't recognize WMA, I tried dBpoweramp but it also discriminates WMA files. just like to know if there is a quick and easy and dummy proof way to convert WMA to lossless format (VLC?). Thanks a lot. I actually don't like switching between systems but I have to play what I have in hand. ps. I don't have any fancy system other than a pair of vmoda headphone, old iPod, and a headphone amplifier (before I am deaf, I will carry them around in the airplanes. ). Thanks a million...
7. Dear @Flac Attack ,mind if I tag along your response? I don't know much of the theories.. If I have a bunch of .wma files (claimed to be 24-bit samples). If I want to port them to iPod (160GB), I am buying dBpoweramp and hoping to convert the so-called 24-bit to lossless format (ALAC) that iPod can play. Do I need to set the transfer rate to be 24 or higher? Does it matter? Also, does it matter which iPod generation that I am using? It has 'Model 1238' at the back case. I assume it's a classic iPod. I travel a lot, I only have v-Moda headphone and that old iPod. I'd like to learn how to convert those wma files to iPod without much trouble. Thank you in advance. ~~~ also, bonus question: even with v-moda, I found that the songs were richer if I use a China made headphone amplifier listening to those 24-bit songs. Is it because of the amplification (maybe distorted, but I like it) or because that is supposed to be played that way? Sorry, I don't have a good home system to test my questions... Just wondering if there is a good explanation with my trial by errors.. thought to ask this if you or anyone else knows about the possible answers. Thanks in advance.
8. Somewhat daunting action to take... at a moment, I like to just purchase whatever I found the best review headphone with a limit of $300 to spend, on the other hand, I hate returning things if they make me uncomfortable. Then it goes again. I need to at least narrow down where to go and find all the birds to shoot at once (brutality). Also notice that Costco now sells Sony, Bose, and? over the ear headphones. Best buy, Fry's, Brookstones... just hope one day there is a grid guide for users to follow by multi-filters ($, style, Ohms, range, types of music/songs) so we can 'easily' choose the best possible (greedy and lazy us) headphones without arguments. Thanks for your sound input.
9. Any suggestions for 1) classical music, string music listeners, over the ear, portable (in library? or dorm use) - this is for a young med student who studies all the time in the library. Poor soul... just wonder what I can give him as a BD gift so he'll enjoy his study more with the burdens of biology and chemistry. 2) rockNroll songs listeners (me), over the ear, office most of the time, and portable sometimes - enjoys bass all the time. Also, for with and/or without the headphone amplifiers? 1) iPhone 6 users (play downloads, not sure if he has High resolutions or not). 2) PC/Mac users (stream online), some High, most not resolutions, but slowly getting more. Since we are the types of people who loose things all the time, the lesser things to carry the better it'll be for us. Any input is appreciated. I will buy from Amazon for the ease of customer service. (or any other better sites?) <3
10. Interesting.. any different speaker suggestions for rock&roll or pop music listeners? I also want to do something to my office. thinking of putting something simple but robust (and $ in mind). I am using Bose companion II currently and I really don't like it, poor bass. Thanks a lot.
11. Just want to comment on this picture.... It is a beautiful system...
12. FYI: Copied from HP support... HP Pavilion g7 Notebook sleeps when I close the lid, even th... - HP Support Forum - 1284235 (your HP may or may not be the same as what was described below, nevertheless, my HP has the same option for me to set to keep running when the lid is closed... so please give it a try.) ................ You may have already tried this, but if you right click on the power/batter icon, then click POWER OPTIONS, then on 'Choose what closing the lid does', you can set it how you it to behave here. If you already did this, I would suggest using the Chat option in the HP support manager, and see what they have to say. It's pretty easy and they are VERY helpful. ...............
13. Can't help but looking it up for you from somewhere else. Please take a look at the following links. Wonder if anyone can confirm whether Audioengine 5+ is really that good or not? Five Best Desktop Computer Speakers https://www.avforums.com/threads/how-much-would-i-need-too-spend-to-better-my-audio-engine-a2s.1884054/ Good luck on your search. I am sure other CAphiles can give you their passionate and professional opinions on your questions.
