  1. Well. Think I'm just going to go Sonos after all that. 2 play 1's in one room and 1 each in 2 other rooms. Seems the most reasonable, mature option currently out there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Yeh saw them thanks. Need to decide if it's better going this route or just do Sonos play 1. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks. I will have to check them out. I need small/unobtrusive so will look at audio engine again too. The Sonos connect is a good idea thx. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. So far thinking of perhaps bluesound or an airport express with nice speakers. Say those KEFs referenced above. Will have to look at total price comparison. Might just do 1 room. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. V interesting and useful thread thanks. Not sure if u need spotify connect and AirPlay. I have mainly Apple stuff do AirPlay might suffice. I can still stream spotify via AirPlay. I am now thinking maybe just 1 zone. Living area. Max 2 if I add the bedroom. I heard the play 5 in target and wasn't that impressed. Maybe it was a bad listening area. Part of me is thinking to forget the bedroom for now and just do 1 zone in the living room using AirPlay and the best speakers I can afford. Perhaps the KEFs referenced above. I should get better AQ paying for speakers and not all the other wireless stuff. Just add an airport express. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. And yes there must be a DAC somewhere:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I don't need a competitor. Just looking at options. Agreed on your points thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Sounds still like Sonos is the best for now. Crazy how there are almost no decent competitors. I wanted to heart hat there is something better sounding and as easy or almost as easy as Sonos. A5 and airport express is tempting. Would that sound noticeably better than Sonos? I have to look at KEFs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Audio engine stuff looks great thanks. I need to read up on DACs. I don't think I need one. Given my music is not hi def. and my Mac mini is wireless, so I can just stream music via BT or AirPlay to a receiving end. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks!! Any suggestions on good to great powered speakers? I don't have room for separate amp and speakers. Unless there are some very small and good amps available and price is ok, not thousands. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Agreed but I am more talking of the receiving end. What to stream to from my computer. From above suggestions, NOCS and bluesound look good. I still need to look at that indiegogo project. All my music I think I converted using iTunes Match so is in AAC 256k format of iTunes Match. I had ripped to MP3 previously. I don't have time or motivation to rerip audio in a better format, say lossless, 24bit etc etc. So it might not be necessary to go bluesound for do called better wuality audio if my audio is all not hi res anyway right?? 12. Thanks again!! I don't have room or tone to setup hifi with optical/hdmi in other rooms of the house so seems I will be getting Sonos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I currently have a Mac mini that simply streams audio via AirPlay to my primary stereo system. This system is connected to an Apple TV. It is s basic system with nice but old denon receiver and speakers. I have not (yet) got into separate components or some of the things discussed in this forum. Should I? I am not sure really if I have the time or $ or patience to get into all that stuff. I consider my audio ok as it is but just need to get it through the house. I will check out olive ones and blue sound thanks. Thanks. Brett Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Yes but you then need speakers with a headphone input. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
