  1. Thanks for your input. Linux uses SAMBA. I setup a entire isolated LAN with only the switch, aurender unit, mac and pc. AMM 3.2.0 on both mac and pc failed to list the NAS while all other application sees and mounted the samba share aka NAS share successfully. I am very sure its not a network or a NAS problem at all. Most likely some API calls that the AMM 3.2.0 makes. Lets hope the coming week bring better results from aurender support - meanwhile the aurender is now 1/2 bricked....0.5 works for tidal...0.5 does not work for my NAS... I feel that aurender has taken a step back with AMM 3.2.0 trying too hard to automate things. Automation is one thing but when it fails, at least give the user an option to manually do things!!!! Anyone facing the same issue with AMM 3.2.0 on PC/MAC ?
  2. dear r_w, how does one input manually the \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\sharename in AMM 3.2.0 ? There is no facility for it. When you click add a share, AMM bring out another screen which just list - NAS SERVERS ON MY NETWORK and SHARES IN NAS. It's the same for the PC as well The funny things is - the Aurender unit successfully mounted the NAS share via the Aurender IPAD app
  3. Borrowed my friend's extra notebook to use AMM for PC. Brand new win 7 installed. Updated all patches. 1. AMM installed fine 2. Map drive to NAS works Fine. 3. AMM still cannot detect the NAS 4. This was on a isolated LAN with only the PC, Aurender unit and NAS. For the MAC - I have confirm in terminal that the NAS is mounted via the mount command. Yet, AMM is still not listing that mount point aka NAS. This is not going to have a happy ending...
  4. Thanks for the input. There is no option in AMM in MAC to mount using ip address. hell, there is not even a manual option to mount to start with.... I will try the mount-smbfs thanks
  5. Thanks r_w for your kind offer. I might take your offer if the issue is not sorted out by end next. I can get hold of a PC if need be
  6. Got an email from Aurender support. Requested to do recovery. All went well with that process. But...the ipad app requested me to update to the latest server software 5.3.96, I am still trying...can't seem to download the lastest version. I am on ver 5.3.78 AMM still can't see my NAS, AMM still cannot do a graceful exit..... BIG MISTAKE.....should have waited at least a month before upgrading - just to make sure everything is stable. Now my Aurender is almost a BRICK!!! Credit where is due, this is the first problem i had with updating aurender software. Hope this get solve quickly!!
  7. I have upgraded it...and I can't find previous AMM version on the aurender website
  8. Has anyone face any problems with the new 3.2.0 AMM on a Mac 10.9.5 ? I have just updated the AMM today and boy, did i regret it!! 1. Can't detect my NAS (I have made sure the NAS is up and is accessible and made sure it was a SMB and not AFP connection- I am a IT geek so I KNOW it's all good with my NAS) 2. The AMM 3.2.0 will and cannot do a graceful exit. I get a dump when the application exits 3. The USB drives works. And the worst part? I can't get anymore album and songs uploaded through my NAS A real bummer Let's see what Aurender says. Other than that...the n100 and the amm has been really good to me.
  9. Thanks Brian for you input....i might just go ahead with the 2GB SSD drive on the N100
  10. Brian, is there any guide for a DIY install for the SSD drives on to the Aurender N series? The format of the drive is NTFS or FAT32> Thanks
  11. Thanks Brian for the information, can i self install a 2GB SSD drive into the N100 or the N100 is limited to only 1GB SSD drives? With internal ssd drives in the n series and traditional internal drives in the x series - has anyone done any comparison on SQ between them playing files from the internal drives? (leaving aside the bang for buck value)
  12. I suspect what AMM builds is a index link to ALL the physical files which is uploaded to the aurender n series at the last session of the process. The AMM also builds the metadata information which is uploaded into the Conductor app. I suspect the Conductor data has only metadata information and not physical attributes to where the files are store. On another note, if i were to add an optional HD into the n100, would i need to AMM to index those files too? Or it's auto? Forth coming reply this much appreciated. Meanwhile enjoy the music
  13. my bad, the n100 does read external usb drives which connects to the n100. To get album art and search functionality and metadata, one needs to hook up the usb drives on the computer which AMM resides, scan the usb drives, the AMM will then transfer the db which she has built over to the N100, only then, one can search and see those album art and meta information. You then need to connect the same usb drive which has been scanned by AMM to the physical N100. my apologies for the misinformation for SMB connection only.
  14. Just a quick note about the Aurender Media Manager (AMM). It only likes a SMB connection, if you have say a thunderbolt or a usb3 storage connected to your PC/MAC, then you are out of luck. No AFP...PURE SMB connection, luckily I had a extra NAS. It will take a while for conductor app to recognize the NAS SMB connection - has not fail me yet. SQ after a week with N100, timbre is just right for me, a bit on the warmish side, micro details are presented in a polite manner, focus is pin sharp, layering could be better, but at this price point, who am I to complain? Low end still is a bit soft compared to the Aries, the whole presentation of the N100 is very polite and gentle while not being overly done. The Aries presented me with the band on the stage, the Aurender make me feel the band is singing to me....just a analogy. With the N100, my crappy Tiffany All this time sounded pretty decent, with the Aries, the track sounded so noisy and unbearable - and because of this, I am digging up my Joan Jet and the Black Heart out again. I did a simple test for Tidal, songs ripped to flac and playback direct from Tidal. As to whether these 2 files were bit perfect vs each other - I have no idea, could hear just a little bit of difference when the volume is turn up, with the Aries, Tidal playback vs similar local track playback was very different. Music discovery via the Conductor app is very intuitive and responsive unlike the Aries ipad App. Searching via the Conductor app is more FUN vs the Aries. The IEC receptacle at the back came out, it was those spring loaded type which could not bear the weight of my shunyata cobra king power cable - maybe a DIY mod and maybe Aurender should fix this little annoyance. Verdict - N100 is a keeper
