  1. As a whole, you will still be stifled by your weakest link. In the case of your DAC, you will likely not be able to fully achieve the full resolution of a 30k dac, but that's bygones for the purposes of this thread. If you are trying to use a great cable and you are attaching these two with a coupler, the weakest part will be the coupler. You might actually get better results with just the straight wire as it is depending on the coupler. If you are thinking about putting in a 30k dac into your system at somepoint (or any upgrade really), you would likely be better served by replacing the whole run now.
  2. A system is only as good as its weakest link
  3. You could also create a custom tag / extended tag for WALLET and SLEEVE with your favorite tagger which could store the info with each track. You could even get JRiver to display these custom fields. (last I checked iTunes can't handle custom fields directly, but you could use the comment field) MP3tag can also export to whatever formatting you specify, but if you already have the list, the de-dupe sounds fine.
  4. Have you tried Google Drive? The easiest way would be to install Google Drive sync to establish your folder structure.
  5. 1 plus for lossless, if you rip to FLAC you can embed metadata and there's is a crc check built into the format. There's no standard way to do so with WAV which leaves you slave to the filename. If they get messed up you're largely SOL.
  6. The new Plays all index way faster and support dual band. The connects are _old_ at this point.
  7. It's my fault. I wait 7 years for them to bring out a new connect, finally give in, and then this =) Appreciate the heads up. While annoying you probably saved me a bunch of long term grief.
  8. What's your take on timing? Just bought a system and figuring out if I should return it. I'd hate to get stuck.
  9. What about: Connect HDD to existing HTPC computer Run jriver on the HTPC (it does not have to be on top) Use an airport express as the destination. Hook up to DAC via optical Control via Jremote Alternatively, connect HDD to existing HTPC Run Asset or Minimserver Play music directly off your ipad depending on the version of your little dot dac: Quick overview How to Connect Android, iPad, or iPhone to a DAC | JDS Labs Blog You could run Media:connect or the like You could also so similarly with Plex letting it act as the DLNA server or using the app directly (you can tell it not to transcode locally) Then you can play remotely as well (though likely transcoded)
  10. The geek Pulse can be had for $399 for the next week. If you want to step it up the Geek Pulse X can be had for $777 for the next week, and if you really want to step it up, the Geek Pulse Xfi is $1399 (although it's more than a grand). http://igg.me/at/geekpulseaudio/x/1906802 This is probably the best you'll do for that kind of money presently: http://igg.me/at/geekpulseaudio/x/1906802
