  1. Hi Again, I just figured out how to set a static dns server in Nucleus, so let me see if that improves anything. thanks, joe
  2. Hi, I am getting better performance with ROON using Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) on my Cable Modem (Motorola, COMCAST is ISP). Also my Macs using ROON Remote. (This was suggested by ROON after a direct question about poor performance by me on the ROON Forums.) But, my ROON Nucleus reports the DNS server is the Comcast 75.75.75.75. My Nucleus is plugged into a etherREGEN. ROON says Nucleus will use the DNS server of the switch it is connected to. I have rebooted the etherREGEN. My cable modem is definitely using the Google DNS servers. I do not see how to configure the etherREGEN DNS server. Why do I care? The ROON Nucleus has been crashing every 2-3 days. This is new. Any ideas? joe Comcast ISP --> Motorola Cable Modem --> etherREGEN --> ROON Nucleus --> stereo
  3. OK. So I brought the etherREGEN to my main computer (iMAC), in another room next to the router. I connected the A-side of the etherREGIN directly to the cable modem/router. I connected the imac to the b-side of the etherREGEN. I was able to connect to any website. I tested it for 1 hr. No issues. Then I took the etherREGEN back to the music system in the other room. I connected the a-side to the ROON Nucleus, also to a local NETGEAR switch for a local computer and various HT components, and the router in the other room (note that the router is in another room. There is a 20 or 30 foot CAT6 cable connecting the router to the etherREGEN (in the crawlspace below the floor) - this may be part of the issue). I connected the b-side to a Wattson Emerson Digital ROON endpoint. It has been working fine for the last hr or so. So, I do not think anything is wrong with the etherREGEN. This is a network issue. Over the next few days I will test the audio quality (first impressions are very positive, even using the a-side seemed to be better) Also, do I lose connection? Perhaps the solution is to set a static IP address? I believe I heard an improvement with everything connected to the a-side. But so far I think the b-side is also improved. Quieter, and sibilance on vocals much more natural. I want to make this WORK!!!! My system: ROON Nucleus, Wattson Emerson Digital, or USB from ROON Nucleus - > Ayre QX5 DAC AES (Wattson) or USB (from Nucleus) -> ARC Ref6 -> Ayre MXRs -> Revel Salon Studio2 (Cardas Clear cables)
  4. I don't know about the Nucleus. But I also have a Wattson Emerson Digital, it operates at 100 Mb - it does not work from the b-side either. The modem/router is a Motorola MG7550.
  5. I received a new etherRegen yesterday. I hooked it up with the b-side connected to my Roon Nucleus. It worked for a minute or two and stopped. I then connected the Roon Nucleus to the A-side and connected my router directly to the A-side as well. There is another A-side connection to a Netgear switch. Everything works. I have been using it the way for over several hours, no problems at all. I have tried connecting the B-side to the router directly with the Nucleus on the A-side. Same thing - works for about 1 min then stops. The computer connected to the A-side attached Netgear switch cannot see the router after the music stops. The yellow light is on, the green flickers or is solid (b-side). it is as if the router is kicking the b-side off the network. But it likes the A-side. Any ideas? (note that I am NOT a computer or network security expert)
  6. I have the latest 2.5 software version.
  7. I have been using Roon with microRendu and ultraRendu for the last year or so. I had a PS problem with my ultraRendu, so I switched back to Audirvana (with USB) and downloaded the Audirvana 3 update. I was excited to learn that Audirvana 3 supported microRendu. I have a office system with microRendu/Schiit DAC & headphone amp. So I wanted to try it out. Audirvana 'sees' the microRendu. But, when I try to play anything Audirvana finds the track, seems to have loaded it into memory, then freezes - the track will not play. The bit rate does not matter. I remember something about 'Direct Mode' having similar issues - I have tried turning Direct Mode off before switching to the microRendu. DirectMode does not appear with microRendu as the output device. MacOS X El Capitan 10.11.6 Audirvana 3.1.7 (3127) Any help welcome.
