  1. Yes, I guess I could just point the script at a single folder and see how it does. I'm not familiar with either Yate or Bliss. I am Mac-based...no PC's in this house at all.
  2. Would that be a tool that actually exist, Dan, or is that like what I'm supposed to be dreaming about at night? I don't write code...probably needless to say. I can barely manipulate a script. Normally I do have a backup, but the day before it crashed and burned. In this case I had a mirrored RAID drive I was working with that holds my main library, which of course mirrors all the stupid decisions I made that night. New 2TB drive inbound. Dreaming of idiot-proof software...
  3. Just registered - thanks for asking on my behalf, Peter. To answer Dan's Question, and to express some concern with lots of hope to jhwalker's suggestion (thank you) - This all happened one weekend evening, after a few too many glasses of wine, I went into the Tool cabinet of JRiver (version 18 at the time...now on 20). I should have remembered never to operate power tools while under the influence!!! So I go in there to create a script to remove duplicates from my library. Read the really piss poor tutorial they had on the subject, and with the confidence only alcohol can bring, created a script and initiated it. Ha...seemed to go off fine. Looked like it removed about 2,000 excess files. Put your glasses on wino! The script moved 22,000 songs from my library. I started going through some of the folders looking and everything was GONE! Of course I chose to do all this right after my backup drive had crashed and burned the previous day, intending to make a new one with a duplicate free copy of my library....not a song-free copy with just all the folders which is what I had been left with. Panic set in. Until I checked the trash. There were all 22K songs...buck naked and shivering...looking up at my wide-eyed and terrified at the edge of oblivion! I'd already set down my wine glass, and put on my glasses and went into full on rescue mode and pulled all of my beloved songs from the trash....and they all are breathing just a bit easier now, but shaken from the experience still. They are huddled in a mass in a more secure folder on their original hard drive, along with all of the folders they once occupied. They of course have all the tagging that jriver had given them, though much of that lacked in organizational savvy when it came to compilations, but that's another story. So you can see why my hesitation, yet excitement, about going into the tool shed again...albeit this time sober...to try to clean up this mess, especially since I look at the screen shot and only understand just a little of what it is suggesting the software do...like being in a foreign land where you only understand a few words and hope you understand the directions someone just gave you. Thank you for the suggestions.
