  1. Hello. I too been looking for a decent volume controller for under $1k. Everyone's suggested products are interesting. The insight also invaluable. I found this one online and I'm almost tempted to get it. SPL 2Control http://spl.info/hardware/monitor-controllers/2control/in-short.html The product claims: Two channels, two sources, two loudspeaker sets, two headphones. It also has a separate mono speaker output for sub or mono speaker. All XLR ins and outs. Perfect for between dac and poweramp. However I don't know if it has the degrading effects that everyone is talking about. No volume control, which sucks. But I listen to music from my desk so the controller is within reach. It also looks pretty cool. If anyone has more product suggestions please post some links. Thanks -Will
  2. I rip a lot of stuff into ISO. It's such a wonder format. All bytes copied from the disk. Takes up a lot of space though.
  3. you could double up on dac but how do you manage bass?
  4. Hi Santiago, Great products. I looked into the products and they are really great. I'm not too sure about the Ergo's DA conversion. Some people mentioned that it's capable of 24/192. I haven't seen any discussion about how it rejects jitter. However it can be used as a standalone analog interface which would be perfect for volume control and room correction. It can also do a great job feeding poweramps or active subs and speakers. A wireless remote would have been better. I hope we can run into something of a Arcam rDAC/KRK ERGO hybrid or a cheap version of the ATT202. Imagine all of it rolled into one and at least under 1K. Hopefully there's one out there right now. Will
  5. Hi Santiago, You hit the issue right on the button. I read in some article that going dac direct to poweramp produces superior sound but only in 2.0. However, if you use one of the outputs of the dac to feed the poweramp, and use the second output to feed the sub, then as you mentioned the speakers would reproduce low bass content at the same time, affecting SQ. It makes sense that a preamp with low and high pass filters would definitely be needed in a 2.1 setup. That's the point of 2.1, letting the mains and sub play their role! It would be nice to find a class II audio dac that provides low pass, high pass, and full range outputs. Sooner or later there might. Will
