  1. Why are Skullcandy headphones overrated in the audiophile? Yes, Beats are overrated but perhaps Skullcandy is the cheaper version?
  2. Thanks for doing this experiment... that means that I really don't have to worry about cars passing by my condo or people walking by my laptop affecting my digital ripping too much .
  3. I am using a SSD drive so I don't have to worry about vibrations on the storage medium. I'm only worried about the CD drive shaking during ripping.
  4. This was hilarious. You made me seem way too paranoid about external vibrations influencing my CD ripping process by a long shot. So basically no chance of laser misalignment if a car passes by my condo?
  5. Since most of my CD collection is rap music I plan to re-buy those via iTunes and I ripped only the few classics that I hope to hear in ALAC. Most of my classical and jazz I plan to rip into lossless. I enjoy being selective.
  6. Just tested it and it doesn't seem to make any difference as far as I am concerned. But then again it's not I'm shaking the laptop while the CD are being encoded .
  7. Sweet... so I am glad that with digital ripping that external factors such as rumbling cars or people walking by is not going to influence the ALAC files that I am creating. Thanks for all of your input.
  8. Thanks for the answer. I was very paranoid that even the bass boom from passing cars in the street beside my condo were affecting my CD ripping process.
  9. I am using a laptop and iTunes with error correction to rip CD's. I was wondering whether accidental shaking of the laptop or outside vibrations will affect the ripping process. I assume not because it's reading the disc like a digital file. I am so used to turntables so any vibrations influences the output. So are CD's affected by outside vibrations during the ripping process?
