  1. Whats the best Windows PC player currently for DSD and High res playback? On the Mac I use Audirvana.
  2. I haven't used my PC for a few years for audio playback or CD ripping. Whats the currently recommended best option for ripping high quality CD's and XRCD's?
  3. Ok, thanks. I have an old(pre playback) version of iPeng. Will give the new version a try.
  4. Came across this article More Audiophile iPad Play! FLAC Playback | InnerFidelity I might try Capriccio, before shelling out $10 for FLAC player.
  5. Thanks. but I'm looking for the best app for playback of flac files ON my iPad, not on a remote device-server.
  6. First a disclaimer, I DO NOT like the current version of itunes!! Too many reasons to go into here,... On the desktop I use and love Audirvana for playback of all my flac, high res and DSD files. Also just started experimenting with an app called VOX. On my iPad though I have used VLC in the past am looking for alternatives. Also it seems in the latest version of iTunes Apple has once again changed the way apps are able to import and sync files...or perhaps I am missing something... Anyways came across this over whelming list 25+ Top Apps for Flac Files (iPhone/iPad) | AppCrawlr Can anyone reading this share their favorite app for both syncing and playback of flac files on their iphone-ipad?
  7. For me its equal parts B.B.King, Aaron Neville, James Brown, with a touch of Vince Guaraldi !
  8. Expanding my music library, digital at the moment, and an audiophile friend suggested FIM. They seem rather pricey so before I drop any coin was hoping to get a few recommendations. http://www.firstimpressionmusic.com/
  9. Thanks. So tried it and I AM getting a clean audio signal but, if what you say is true, what exactly am I hearing? Only redbook audio? I'm fairly certain the HDMI digital audio leaving my player is native DSD . So is the digital signal somehow altered when it leaves my plasma?
  10. Somewhat of a noob issue as I am simply trying to playback SACD's on my bluray player. I was surprised that I could only get digital audio out from a new SACD purchase via HDMI. On further research discovered this has something to do with DRM which is only supported with HDMI. But, my DAC does not have any HDMI inputs! So what do people do? I did notice I have a toslink (optical digital) out on the back of my plasma. So would one possible solution be to go HDMI out to plasma> toslink out to DAC ?? Would my DAC still be getting the full SACD signal?
  11. The more I listen to my iFIMicro DAC the more I realize it truly shines when playing native DSD files. Can anyone share their preferred source for DSD or DSF files and recordings? Audirvana>iFIMicro>HiFiMan400i
  12. Can anyone tell me if it s possible to somehow upsample the streams from TIDAL or Spotify? I purchased Audrivana which has a powerful upsampling filter, bypassing Core audio. Just wondering if there was some way to feed it the stream from a streaming service like Tidal or Spotify
  13. Ok got it. In order to create the ISO image in the first place you still need a hacked PS3
  14. Can anyone share their advanced settings for audiravana? What Advanced parameters and forced up sampling options do you use under 'Audio filters'? Also any tips you might have, for instance I was wondering if there was some way to create custom playlists...doesn't seem possible.
  15. Came across this article and I thought to myself, at last, a software only solution that might allow ripping of your SACD collection 1 Download the iso2dsd_gui.jar app and run it Sonore APPS - ISO2DSD It does mention Conversion based on SACD-Ripper, open source (GNU -V2) 2 Convert the resulting ISO image from #1 to a DSF file see FREE Tools#1 DSD file format Am I totally mistaken? Is the ONLY way to rip SACDs via a hacked PS3, as per http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f6-dac-digital-analog-conversion/funding-making-sacd-ripping-available-through-universal-serial-bus-industry-standard-cables-connectors-and-communications-protocols-between-computers-and-electronic-devices-22124/
