  1. Thanks again Possum! , your suggestions got me going in the right direction and I was able to complete this. It was actually straight forward. When I converted the playlist to mp3; it did leave me with 2 copies of each; wav & mp3. So I created a Smartlist of all my mp3 (which was my playlist) and then exported that to my MP3 Player. Then I just deleted the mp3 smartlist as I didn't need it for anything else.
  2. Thanks Possum - Most of them are wav and a few are ape. That is exactly what I did to convert, but when I look at the file in the playlist it still shows up as a wav....Now when I look at the file in my audio collection, both the wav and the mp3 are listed. I just tring to be certain that the files in the playlist are actually mp3... as in 2 test files, they still show up as wav in the playlist. Guess that I'm trying to avoid rebuilding the entire list with MP3 after the conversion.
  3. In the past I have been able to convert entire albums to MP3 files so that I could load them onto a Sandisk MP3 Player. but when I did this, all of the albums ended up with each song duplicated;..one song as WAV and also as MP3. I just created an playlist (300+ songs) from multiple albums. I want to convert the entire playlist to MP3 files so that I can load them on to another MP3 Player. As a test, I did convert 1 song from the playlist to MP3 and the process appeared to happen sucessfully; but when I view the file type of that song within the playlist, it still shows up as a WAV file. So my question is; Can I convert the entire playlist (from playlist) to MP3 and have it as a new MP3 playlist? Any insight is apprectiated!
  4. Thanks, I will give Andrew a call. I'm curious as to the significance of using the external power supply and then Linear.
  5. Oh yes, the NAS will be either 4 or 6TB. It is approximately 3000 cd's.
  6. For the past 3 years I have been using a Dell Vosrtro i5 laptop with wav files ripped to the hard drive. Recently decided to rip the entire cd collection to a NAS and move to a dedicated music server. Although I'd like to just order a C.A.P.S. Zuma, it just isn't within the budget. So I'm working with someone local to me to build a budget version of the Zuma. Here is the preliminary parts list: Core™ i7 / i5 H97 Value Custom Computer System : COMPUCASE HEC 6C28B Black Mid-Tower Case, No PSU, ATX SEASONIC X-460 460W Fanless Power Supply w/ Modular Cables, 80 PLUS® Platinum, 24-pin ATX12V EPS12V, Active PFC, 2x 8/6-pin PCIe, Retail GIGABYTE GA-H97M-D3H, LGA1150, Intel® H97, DDR3-1600 32GB /4, PCIe x16, SATA 6Gb/s RAID 5 /6, HDMI + DVI + VGA, USB 3.0 /4+2, HDA, GbLAN, mATX, Retail INTEL Pentium® G3220 Dual-Core 3GHz, HD Graphics, LGA1150, 5 GT/s, 3MB L3 Cache, DDR3-1333, 22nm, 54W, EM64T EIST VT-x , Retail CRUCIAL 8GB (2 x 4GB) PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHz CL11 1.5V SDRAM DIMM, Non-ECC CRUCIAL 128GB MX100 SSD, MLC Marvell 88SS9189, 550/150 MB/s, SATA 6 Gb/s, 2.5-Inch, 7mm w/ 9mm Adapter, Retail SOtM tX-USBexp UBUNTU Pre-Installed Ubuntu™ Linux 64-bit Latest Available Desktop Edition, No Media What I like to ask, if anyone can suggest any parts up grade to maximize audio quality? Like; Should I get a better power supply? Any suggestions or advice is certainly appreciated. Thanks!
