  1. I don't have the LS50Ws, but I listen to Tidal constantly, with Roon through access points to DACs and with my tablets with a Dragonfly Red. I never experience stuttering. From time to time it will skip to the next track, which is indicative of a temporary bandwidth problem. I am in Brazil, which may explain this. And it is infrequent.
  2. I'm sorry to hear people are having problems. I've been coveting these speakers, but now I'm going to hold off until matters are resolved. I ws pretty much on hold waiting for full Roon compatibility, anyway.
  3. I spend most of my time in Brasil, but I also have a house a small city in Ontario, Canada. The number of OTA channels available there is exactly zero. Sometimes it's not about choice at all, lol. But it does have gigabit Internet.
  4. Just a guess, but I have a feeling the next time Tidal "loses" a CEO it won't be mentioned, lol.
  5. In my experience most racists are equal opportunists. If they dislike blacks they gernerally dislike Asians and just about anyone else they consider "non-white."
  6. Have you ever visited Vancouver? 40% of the population is of Asian descent. Those who want to stay in their white cocoons need to do some research if Vancouver is on their list. Canada is a proudly multicultural country. 50% of the population of Toronto was born outside Canada.
  7. It is somewhat ironic that a music-focussed discussion would centre on objections to drug use and criminality in a profession that has plenty of both. This includes most genres of music, although I suspect classical may be a little lower on the scale. But more ironic is the notion in some posts of "guilty despite being proven innocent." Each of us is entitled to the best possible defence in a court of law. If that defence is as successful as possible, it often results in a decision of innocence. Until, of course, the judge and jury of Audiophile forums surface. I'm a middle-aged white Canadian who for almost 20 years has lived in a predominantly black, African-influenced culture (Salvador, Brasil). I don't give a shit about the colour of anyone's skin, and I never have. I subscribe to Tidal because I like it, I'm not a big fan of Jay Z because I find his personality annoying. I think Kendrick Lamar is a genius and listen to a few other rappers from time to time, but I would not describe myself as fan of rap. So, after reading this discussion I'm not sure what I am any more, except perhaps bemused by some of the responses.
  8. I will ignore the "Sean Carter ownership controversy" because I live in Brasil and if I boycotted companies with criminal connections I wouldn't be able to buy a home, feed my family or, frankly, do anything. As a Roon user I would be dismayed to see anything alter the Tidal-Roon equation, although I fail to see how a CEO change is likely to make that happen. I consider the Sprint funding to be a longlasting lifeline, and the fact that Spotify appears to be on the verge of offering hi def as assurance that Tidal won't downgrade its music quality. Offering less than the competition would not be a wise strategy.
  9. $3,000 in Canada, plus 13% tax. Not quite as bad (C$ and Australian dollar are just about par now), but still bad.
  10. I've seen mention of everything from Roon being considered to people saying KEF informed them that Roon compatibility is definitely on the way. As a happy Roon user I'm cautiously optimistic but holding on to my cash for now.
  11. Much of what is wrong with software and music access could be improved with Roon compatibility. I'm waiting to see that before I purchase.
  12. That's great news. I've been thinking about buying these, but (aside from the fact that in Canada they cost $3,000) lack of Roon integration has been holding me back. That sounds pretty definitive.
  13. I'm also in the "no Roon = no dice" camp. Although there is a request earlier in this discussion to not mention Roon, I fail to see why we would not respond to a subjective review in a subjective manner. IMHO, a Roon pairing would be fantastic!
  14. Got it. I misunderstood your recommendation. My apologies. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  15. Oh. Duh! Lol. And a volume knob seemed like such a good idea! Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
