  1. Here is an interesting problem I encountered. I am using Audirvana Plus in iTunes Integrated Mode. I cannot play the 24/192 Pono release of Jeff Buckley's Grace from start to finish. The song order is in relevant part, Last Goodbye and then Lilac Wine. At the end of Last Goodbye, Audirvana starts playing Last Goodbye from Grace Around the World. When I use iTunes without Audirvana, this does not occur. I have no idea as to why this is happening. Any thoughts?
  2. Does Roon have a liner notes feature and if so, for about what percentage of albums? Not having the liner notes is what I miss most with my transition from CD playback to computer-based playback.
  3. I am employing the sync folder method of adding music to Audirvana Plus, stated in the manual as follows: "The library contains the tracks coming from the audio files in the selected folders and/or in the iTunes database. There are two ways to do this import: 1) By adding the folders to sync with Audirvana Plus. This is the recommended method, as any folder content update will then be automatically pushed to Audirvana Plus (except for the network volumes). Adding new files inside these folders will make their tracks automatically appear in Audirvana Plus. - Under "Select the folders to add to the library", click on “+” button at the bottom left of the list to add a new folder to synchronize. This will raise the folders selection window where you’ll select one or more folders to add to the list. - You can force a synchronization by clicking on the “Sync” button located on the row of the folder to synchronize. - To delete a folder from the synchronization list, and remove all its tracks from Audirvana Plus library, select it and press the “-“ button" Now my question is: how does Audirvana's library database interact with music files that are on one or more external hard drives when such hard drives are not always connected to the computer when Audirvana is being used? I know that this would be a disaster under iTunes; it will mess up the library and cause the dreaded ! next to such files. With Audirvana, will the files in the external hard drives simply not be shown in the library when the HDs are not connected and appear in the library when connected? This would be great and I hope someone knows to save me a trial and error mistake.
  4. I hope that I picked the correct thread for operational assistance with this program. The year, disc number and genre fields do not appear in the track lists view. I do have them selected in the view options. I also confirmed that this information is in the database by looking at the metadata. What I am I doing wrong? If more information is needed please ask. Thanks to all.
  5. I am bit envious but at the same time happy for those who can use HQPlayer; all of my music files are in ALAC in iTunes and thus not playable with HQPlayer. And to make matters worse, even if there is a work-around, I have no comprehension of the discussion regarding scripts, etc.
  6. I have done the research but I am hoping that you gentleman will provide me with a shortcut to doing a demo of the available software for at least three reasons: 1) I am not a natural at learning new software; 2) some of the programs seem complicated with many preferences and 3) the programs seem difficult to uninstall. I have looked at the documentation for BitPerfect, Vox for Mac, Amarra 3.0, Pure Music 2.0 and Audirvana Plus. I prefer the software that is designed to use iTunes to manage the content because I already know it. I also like software the programs that show the bit depth and sample rate of files being played. With all of this in mind, what program will work and/or sound the best on a MacBook Air that is limited to only 4GB of RAM and is not upgradable to more? Most of the software vendors recommend 8GB of RAM for playing high resolution files. Perhaps someone has been able to get good sound using less to play these file. Much thanks, David
  7. Chris, I have been visiting your site for several months and registered today. You have been providing me with invaluable information particularly in optimizing my mac mini as a music source. You have saved much time and headache and made computer audio a real joy rather than a chore. The step by step instructional videos are fantastic. No one else takes the time to do such fantastic and accurate work. Please do not stop.
