  1. Thanks kurb1980. Now I have a problem, I am using the 9V already for external power supply to my SOTM USB card. What I will try is to use the 12V HDPlex connection to power the USB card from the inside. The SOTM USB uses 12V with the inside connector. I will try to build a cable that delivers the 12V to the inside power connector of the SOTM and then I have the 5-9V connection free to use with the Regen and I can go for 7.5v :-) Lets see...
  2. Has anyone tried the 12V from the HD Plex to power the Amber Regen and maybe has compared it to lower voltages? I am using that setup with 12V right now and find it quite satisfying although I did not compare the 12V to other voltages. I did not want to bring the power supply which ships with the Regen into my power system because I fear the noise coming from that device. For me it works fine with this setup but I am curious if others have the same experience or if lower voltages, maybe from an additional external linear power supply, might do even better? My DAC (PS Audio PWD MK II) does not require USB power so the Regen stays cool.
  3. My experience is to keep the DAC at max volume when using a preamp. Sounds more dynamic and more details. With both DACs I have had in my system (Mytek 192 and PS Audio PWD MK II) the DAC's volume control was inferior to using a full blown pre amp. Pre amps were Myryad, Krell KAV 250p and ARC Ref3. The sound with pre amp was more mature, bigger soundstage and better dynamics. Connecting the DAC directly to an amp gave a very technical sound and flat soundstage. I must say both DACs have digital volume control, I have never tried a DAC with analog volume control.
